Hello from Herts

Just to join in the debate [:D]
My 87 S was almost identical to the pics above but was white. I swapped out the half vinyl seats for a set of full velour ones which I aquired from someone on Pistonheads for around £200, so no more annoying rips [:)] It didnt have the rear valence but managed to pick one up off ebay for around £70, to my mind the rear valence sets the look of the car off nicely.

Also agree with Hallsy's post above, not much uuuumph low down, but get the revs above 4.5k and its a totally different beast, I also fitted the promax chip and that definately smoothed everthing out.

Got three pics to post, you used "link", which is for websites. You need the "image" button, but I don't know why that last one doesn't show.

Looks great. If you want a drive out please bring it over at the weekend! [:)]

Thanks Paul.. so far so good :) I will text you and drive up this weekend if work permits (as on call).. but yeh just a few little jobs to do...

And Paul I think that last image did not show there as you forgot the / in the image at the end I will fix..

As the pix were so large I decided to link with link instead :)

The 2.7 seems to be getting 'very rare' and were I to be tempted back it would be by a 2.7 for sure .......

Best of luck , I just hope you live on the good side of Herts, not the dark side [:D]
It does indeed and had I not bought the S I would've been taking a look at this one.

THIS ONE

Not far from me either, but no details on history ..looks tidy tho, and I like that interior

I totally agree about the rear valance, I think a S2 style valance will finish off the rear end nicely and so that plus promax is on my wishlist already :)

I did try an 8v and I did find it very responsive from low down as stated but this urgency seemed to flatten out from 5k upwards, where as this car seems to pull very much harder which is a characteristic I would prefer when gunning it..

Sorry Pezz - that will teach me to post after only reading page 1!!

I see you have now bought an S - well done, and hope you enjoy her :)

If I could have kept my old one I would have done, as it was in great condition with great paperwork, but the Turbo itch was too much and I couldn't afford to keep both!

Also - my S had a ProMax chip installed by a previous owner who reported that it improved the smoothness of the power delivery, so probably worth trying one out.

The last bit of spam :)

Just picked up on this thread and your car looks good. Like Andy, I also have a 944S which I have owned for nearly 3 years, so if I could help you with any advice, please contact me. Oh and I live near Hitchin [:)]

Hi Martin,

Sorry only just seen this:

Thats Great I am up in Hitchin from time to time..

I will drop you a PM to see when you are about.

Cheers

Derek

Oh BTW have you seen THIS CAR about? Apparently a hitchin car..
A nice test drive along A505 between hitchin and stopsley would be cool LOL

Sounds like there is a little band of us round here. I'm in Buntingford (nearly Essex!) and on TIPEC (maybe also on here?) is a guy called Duncan (Bowrunner) who is in Herts. There is a decent little car meet at a pub called the Goat on Hertford Heath 1st Sunday of the month. Maybe we should look to meet up there some time?
Cheers
Mick

Good idea, lets pencil in Sunday March 1st then! [:)]

We've something 'possible' on 1st March but I'd be 90% sure I can get out of it [:D]

Hmm Anyone know if the 1st March is a goer at all?

Totally smitten with the 944... the roof is out at every opportunity :)

Now that I am driving the car a bit harder , noticing front end lift on acceleration and nose diving when braking so
may look at shocks/spring setup soon just to firm things up a little :)

Any recommendations?? :)

Glad your enjoying the car. Roof off sounds ambitious in this weather. I am assuming the heater works then!

I'll be at the Goat 1st March. Probably about 11am but I'll be in the 964 since the 944 is 'off sick'. I'll try and persuade my son to wear the 'evolution of the 911' hoodie so you can pick us out! If not, he'll be in a lurid yellow coat!

Cheers
Mick

Hi there all,

I am Duncan (Bow Runner) and have just got onto PCGB. I was thinking you had to be a member and Masher corrected my misunderstanding.

I am indeed in Hitchin. I have a Black 944 LUX.

I hope to go to The Goat on Sunday. I may not get a green card as I'm swanning off on Saturday morning as well. Also I just went to fill up the 944 and its decided to not start again. I'll have a look tomorrow when its light and not so damn cold.

Didn't realise there were so many 944's in and around Hitchin though I have see a red 944 LUX or S driving around.

I hope to be there for a short while on Sunday, but I am also missing on Saturday going to PIE performance cars and coffee, and I live in west Essex 200 yards from the herts border
