Hurrah my sills are better than I thought

Nothing wrong with Waxoil though. I don't know how you can say one product is better than the other as they both are effective (probably both manufactured at the same factory). All the bodyshops i've ever spoken to say they use Waxoil, whether they are using Waxoil to describe a generic product because it is the one the average bod on the street is probably more familiar with I don't know. I gave my sills a good spraying with waxoil. You can thin it down thinners if you want to make sure it gets into all the nooks and crannies. The good thing about these products is that they drive out water and moisture so you can apply to a wet surface and the moisture will be driven away and the stuff provides active ongoing protection. Whether you use Dinitrol or Waxoil it doesn't really matter so long as you use something.

Just to add, and I'm no expert so you takes your own view....[8|]

I was always recommended to dry the cavity to be filled out completely. Dry weather, long drive to air the cills and even poke a hairdryer down the vent to expel any moisture. Then, apply the product of your choice.

I guess the theory is don't seal IN any moisture.

Yes, Waxoil as well as being a product in itself has also become a generic name for anti rust wax products. I say dinitrol is better because it sprays more easily from a schutz gun and has done better in tests. Having said that, using Waxoyl itself is far far better than using nothing and yes, good idea to dry the sills first.

Dynax is another one and you can buy aerosol cans of underbody wax from Toolstation, calles "Schutzwax".

Even old engine oil sprayed inside your sills would help, but would not stay there.
