Ideas for a run out?

Alan Woods

We just got a Mini Cooper S and the MINI2 forum has runs all the time, we just did Wirall to Llandudno on Sunday and it was a blast. 177 Minis (new and old):

BUT the Mini is supposed to be for shopping, I want to get the P-car out!
Hey I know there are more mini out there than 911's but let's get those cars out. Anyone intested in a similar run up the Orme in Llandudno or other runs?
I also replied to the Yorkshire post of the same request, maybe we could meet up with those guys? Ideas anyone?

Er, well that's a total of, er, let's see.... 1! Thanks Roy - but come on everyone this would be a great way to blow off the cobwebs, unless everyone has Permabags now [;)] Chester would be a great starting point, we went along the dual carriageway past Rhyl etc but I'm sure there is something more twisty, open to suggestions. If I can find out from the Mini guys who to contact in Llandudno we could park our cars on the Prom at the end like this:

That's ours far right BTW [:D]

I have cross posted this in the North Wales Not Active forum as well, just in case they wake up over there[;)]

C'mon everyone let's try to get a 1/2 doz at least.

I'm up for it a raid into Brunstrom territory Could be a real license killer but what the hell

Yes - count me in - as long as it's after the 1st March. I'm sure we would be able to muster a few more at the club night. You must remember that there is only a handful of NW members who go on the forum. Mind you there's only a handful of NW members who bother with the monthly meetings.

Whoo hoo! That's more like it. Does anyone want to suggest a date, is there anything else on early March that we should avoid clashing with? I know Helen is organising a Lakes run on the 20/21.

It would have to be the weekend before then as it's Easter the week after. This may also then get a chance to be 'promoted' at the March club night and also in PP for those non-forum attendees. If you speak with Nic (or hopefull she'll pick up this thread[;)]) I'm sure we'll get the NW committee members - so that's another 4 cars - and you've got your 1/2 dozen. Do you have an idea for a 'muster' point yet - or even a number of points?
Graham
P.S. Are you going to take on the task of 'Routemaster' as well[:)]

or even a number of points?
No problem in N Wales.

There are certainly more interesting routes than along the A55 (eg around Cerrigydrudion where there is also a carting track and a possible picnic site at Lake Brenig).

If I'm available I'll maybe see you

sunday 13th i was planning a scotish boarders raid as im going to be staying nr Hexham..

If we can set a date (not 19/20th March - Workers conference and AGM) before the end of the week I can get it the March edition of PP.

Any other date and I should be able to make it.[;)]

I'll be in the Lakes with Helen on 19th/20th March [;)] (with about 15 other cars too [>:])

Before that would be good for me

Come on then who's the decision maker out there[&:]? Alan - et al, how about the 13th March then? 'Cos 5th March is 964/9M track day at Oulton. 19/20 March is workers conference, 25-28 March is Easter and then it's April! So how about it? Routes, times and meets?
For south Manchester group, if we're heading to Chester then we could meet at the Romper near the M56/Airport and 'collect' the Runcorn Royski on the way[:D]
So - 'Roll-up, roll-up' Who else out there is coming[:)]

OK OK! Sorry I havent been on to reply, blasted work getting in the way again. Great to see some enthusiasm, 6th or 13th then, I would prefer 6th as I'd like to do the Lakes run on the 20th so the 6th wouldnt mean they're back to back. I thought a bit more about the drive, how about start Chester over Betys-y-coed and finish at Portmerion or continue back up towards Camarthen. Any other suggestions re the route welcome, we can fill that in later, but I agree we should set the date ASAP. Can we have a show of hands for the date then and we can make up a list of attendees.

Portmerion...... is that where they filmed the prisoner? "I am not a number!" lol[:D]

If so I definately want to go.

Would love to be followed by that big inflatable ball![:D]

I know, Im not old eneough to remember the original.[:)]

So, we going for the 6th then?

Graham, what time do you propose we meet?

Ugh [], I meant Caernarfon, better not follow me then eh?
Map of the area can be seen here:
http://www.fishing-in-wales.com/visitor/maps/map_nw.htm
Nicola, if you havent been to Portmeirion it's an amazing place, it's close to Portmadog on the map. Maybe we could just end there or continue on back north and towards the coast, again ideas welcome, I have been on these roads but only on a get-there eventually-with-the-kids basis, I've not really "driven" on them if you know what I mean. I sure someone has better experience of the roads there.
Input on the route and show of hands on the date please!

Could be interested for the 6th
Any chance of heading a little further south after Portmerion ? Lake Vyrnwy maybe ??
( or even Carmarthen Alan [;)] )

I would love to come but I have two runs already setup. One March 19/20 with Helen and Black80XSA and about 20 other Porkers in the Lakes, another biggen in May Driving to Northern Spain 3000 mile round trip! So I might have to give this one a miss.......I said "might" ;)

Okay let's try to pull this one together!
1. I propose a meeting point in the Chester area then a drive over Bets_y_coed to Portmerion. Participants then have an option of continuing on North towards Caernarfon making a loop around, or staying longer at PM and making their own way back. I think Portmerion do have a discount deal for groups, if you arent familiar with the place have a look here:
http://www.portmeirion-village.com/
2. I was thinking of something fairly relaxed driving wise, rather than a GT3 pace, but again let's see what everyone thinks re this.
3. Date. 6th March, so it isnt back to back with the Lakes drive, some of us might have might have work tp do on the car inbetween ;)
I know there are a few drives coming up (I'm going on the Lakes one too), but this would be great start to the year.
4. Please reply ASAP if you'd like to attend so I can make a list and give Nicola the thumbs up by Friday.
