I'LL BE BACK.....

ORIGINAL: Melv

Have you seen it yet????

Well I have now.....after only 2 years Mr Paul McLean of GTClassics delivered the restored car this morning and its now in my garage....albeit on axle stands!!! (BBS mags going off for refurb..)

A few little jobs still to finish. Nice new windscreen methinks on the insurance, gotta nice newish suede sparco race wheel and boss, then think I'll take it up to Wayne Schofield for a days tuning and mapping to get the engine running sweetly.

Not many pics...should have taken them when it was outside but Paul and I were gassing like 2 old women.

Thanks to Paul for his knowledge and expertise on these cars and his patience. Can highly recommend him [:)]

Looking good Jason[:)]  No arch liners ?

Not till I've sorted the wheels and fitment out. Paul had his original RSR wheels on it on delivery so I could get a good idea on correct fitment under the arches.

Looks a lot better than last time i saw it down there!
Great attention to detail......well done .now u got the whole winter to polish pre Oulton rs 2012
Good luck

thats funny, arch liners was something I thought as well! Jason car looks lovely, really nice and lots of great details. you must be thrilled.

Is that the original Gear Knob? Very nice Jason, Spa (where it belongs) next year?

Unfortunately don't have a pic of original gearknob so can't say :)

The gearbox is a special 993RS six speed that was developed by Ninemeister to run with this engine. The bills for the development on file total the price of a brand new BMW!!!![][][]

I couldn't bring myself to refit a standard 5 speed as it's almost new[8D]

Jason, who are you using to do this ? I want to get mine done, but there are a couple of issues and I haven't yet found anyone who can deal the whole lot. I want the mag centres crack tested and repainted properly (and we all know how tricky mag can be), and I also want to get the ali rims refurbed and anodised to improve their longevity and reduce maintenance. I know people who can do either bit, but not both, so the whole exercise could end up very expensive and a pain in the a55 !

Looks good Jason! Is this one a keeper??

Hmmmm.

There is only one other car I've seen since I bought this 2 years ago that I'd ever consider selling it for.

Its also a 964 variant and I adore it on a similar level and it could be available.[&o] I discussed it at length with Paul and neither of us could come up with which one we would have if we could only have the one (which I could). Paul is a big RSR fan and also has a mint restored 964RSR car that ran at LeMans. He is of the opinion values will sky rocket when they become eligible for historic racing in the future and it was my agreement with this fact that was one of the reasons that made me buy this car and throw so much money at it in the first place. The intention then to use it occasionally on track and keep it for a very long time.

Since I bought it though my personal circumstances have changed quite a lot and as this is not road registered, I don't have a trailer and it really is an out and out track day car I can't see it being used an awful lot by me at the moment (which really bugs me as I'm not one for looking at them in the garage). That said as Paul commented yesterday 'so what, you don't have to sell so don't - sell your 73RSR rep instead!' He may have a point....

If the other car stops being available then there would not even be a niggle in the back of my head and I could get back to keeping this as intended - a guards red wide bodied 964RSR with gold BBS and 350+ bhp was always my dream car and I guess still is! This on the driveway yesterday sitting so low and purposeful was pretty damn special.[8D]

I guess I just have too many car dreams[:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

You talking about Des's white and orange car?

Car looks very special Jason - I assume Paul Mc's service is essentially one of project management overseeing his contacts doing the work?

Couldn't help noticing and have to ask... is that rust on the steering hub and the bolt next to the ignition barrel? [;)]
