Janspeed exhaust

Anyone here have a Janspeed exhaust fitted to their 944? Any comments on what its like re noise/sound + performance?

Cheers[:)]

Because I have heard (from a reliable motorsport/indy source) that the Dansk unit although well made and a good price does little to restore lost ponies, the Janspeed (also a British campany) however being designed and tested to improve bhp figures. I know were only talking small amounts here but if I'm going to splash out on a new SS system I might as well have one that provides improved performance, albeit a small one.

I thought when I asked janspeed that they didn't do 944 exhausts anymore?
Maybe its just turbo ones.
They make good systems for the classic rangie (and others - minis etc) so I see no reason why this would be any different.

Janspeed for 944's are still advertised by several motorsport vendors, my plan is to call them so will let you know.

I have the S2 ESS Janspeed exhaust on my car and it's very good, not too noisy at all, but much nicer sounding than standard (trackday legal too) and seemingly freer flowing than standard. If they still do them I would highly recommend it. I think the one RPM Technik offered was also good by all accounts (can't remember who made it for them), so might be an option if they still do them.

I had the Janspeed/ESS exhaust on my first Turbo - very nice peice of kit imho, well made and sounded good without being noisy.

Funny as I was told the complete opposite by NineX who have succesfully campaigned both S2s and 968s in our club championship. Depends what you mean by 'lost' though, if the motor is low on power its low on power.

Also an ESS/Janspeed - in fact mine was the first, still going strong and they dyno tested it when developing.

The motor is not low on power, I use the term lost ponies to avoid saying its a performance upgrade, as its really not, but can help a healthy engine back to factory quoted figures, which is my aim.

Ok just spoke to Janspeed, they have not stopped making these but would need a minimum order of 5-6 units before making another batch. Group buy anyone?

Edd

Yes they appear to be available from their website, although no cheap at £750 for the full exhaust, could you tell me about your system, whats it like?

Whats the cost of a janspeed then?

Are the back boxes for 924/944 variants all different or are their some overlaps? Wouldn't mind a Janspeed back box on my 924 turbo.

Had a full system on my Escort RS1600i back in the day. Lovely sound.

Hi Edd, really happy with the exhaust nice sound "on throttle" but not boy racer-ish on tick over which is just what I wanted I believe that H & S will adjust the rear baffles to the sound you want, you can also choose which style of tai lpipe you want.

Nice small independant family run buisiness and very helpful

I've got another option!

Call AAS in Newcastle upon Tyne and speak to them. They used to make 944 exhausts for their race team when they used to run them. Quoted me £475 for a fully fitted stainless system from the manifold back.
