JUST CONFIRMED MY 997S ORDER

ORIGINAL: sptel

AFN Guildford ( sorry Porsche Guildford) said that I cant have the following at November Build,

Multi Function Wheel

Odd. My car is confirmed on the systems for October build with this specified... from Guildford too

Which sales person are you dealing with because I will take it up with them and have it added if available. I am dealing with Andrew and Claus. I know Andrew is new but Claus is the boss.

Yeah of course I asked for discount - Suggested 15% like I get on parts!
This request was directed to the Dealer Principle. His response was to offer me the same discount as he gives to all his best customers - a big round zero! DOHH.
Never mind hey

I have never bought a brand new Porsche, but I always get a discount. My 2001 911, bought 28 mths ago after I obtained a number I pushed for a few extra 100 at the last minute, pen above the paperwork. Maybe I need to wait a few months ..

Sorry, had not spotted your message. My salesman is Tony Curtis.

I queried about the availablity of the M/F steering wheel, and he told me they had had a few delivered with that, and expected no problems. Mind you, having said that I am still without a build date for the car, yet it has been listed for October build for about 3 months now. It might be because of the colour (Carmon) which is only available from Oct.

[FONT=Trebuchet MS"]Usual problem. They can sell more cars than Porsche allocate to them. So why would they discount them. Porsche centre Tonbridge have at least 12 months allocation already sold.

TimD, Tim Chandler has his 997S (in Cobalt Blue) so maybe your should be next!!!!!!

If TimD could be so kind to post a piccy of his Cobalt Blue machine I'd be grateful. Wilmslow OPC took receipt of one last week, and despite a promised viewing by the Sales guy it left on a covered transporter for its new owner before i had chance to have a look!
Cheers

Sorry, mine's going to be the Carmon Red one, not Cobalt.

There really don't seem to be many 997s around...

Must read these post's properley - if Tim C has his Cobalt blue 997.....any chance of a piccy!

Graham, I saw a Cobalt Blue demo at Silverstone, looked fab., in my opinion it was the best colour, second to silver & the trouble with silver is they all are!!
When I was looking at the 996 facelift I took a pre-arranged trip to porsche Hq where they had dozens of different cars colours/interiors/specs/wheels to compare....just a thought it worked for me.

Graham,
You can see pictures of my colbalt blue 997 on www.titanic.quickanet.net/
Im also going to Bedford this saturday 30thy Nov to see how the car
will handle round the track -- its an all day event with 40+ Porsches going
mainly GT3 3s

cheers

tim

Car looks brilliant - can't make it on Sat though as i have just got back (half an hour ago) from a weeks holiday in a very sunny Tenerife.
Was going to get the Carrera Classic wheels, but the S ones look so right!
Confirmed Feb build with delivery March. 4 months and counting!
Cheers
Graham

My 964 is cobalt blue and it looks good. Just goes to show that if its good on a 12 year old car then it must be still good on a brand new one. Also you get a bit of a rarety value because when mine was built guards red was THE colour to have whereas most of the 997s have gone grey/silver.
There is a picture of it on John Miles site on the wallpapers.

Hey, I've seen that Avatar before somewhere :)

I'd copyright it, if I had not shamefully stolen it from Porsche literature in the first place!

Yeah I am well known for stealing avatrs, one day I figure out how to make my own, maybe when my 997 is delivered!

Went into Wilmslow Porsche Centre today just to finalise / confirm my options.
Listened to a Bose and non-Bose sound system, and must admit that within the confined space of the cockpit, couldn't notice and therefore justify the additional expense. Not having the Porsche phone system so also not having a multi-function steering wheel.
In the compound waiting for preparation were no less than 5 Grey 2 Silver and a black Carrera! Not a single red/blue/white/yellow car to be seen.
Top colours are according to the sales guy - Artic, Black and then Grey!
I saw at the weekend a Speed Yellow S - nice but....not my choice. Mine when it arrives (March) will be the second Cobalt supplied through Wilmslow!
Keep teling myself 'not long now!' Ordered four months ago, so well passed the half way mark!
Graham

Having now used my sport chrono facility for what it really offers (not the stop watch bit), I'm convinced that for the price everyone should have it.
