JUST CONFIRMED MY 997S ORDER

ORIGINAL: graham m

I saw at the weekend a Speed Yellow S - nice but....not my choice. Mine when it arrives (March) will be the second Cobalt supplied through Wilmslow!
Keep teling myself 'not long now!' Ordered four months ago, so well passed the half way mark!

[8D]Good Colour Choice did you go for Grey or Blue Leathers? Mine is coming March mine being a 987"S" :ROFLMAO:

Having now used my sport chrono facility for what it really offers (not the stop watch bit), I'm convinced that for the price everyone should have it.

[]Why? I tried it on my test drive in the 987"S" this week and turned it off after 15 unpleasant minutes on London's crap roads. For track days I can see its point but for real world driving I'm buggered if I can see why I would want to destroy a vary pleasasnt ride and naturally great handling set up [&o]

Neither - gone for Black with silver/ally trim.
Nearly spec'd red s'belts, but bottle'd out! - See previous post.
How about this - haven't yet got a confirmed build date as the Cobalt could delay the date BUT I asked to change the wheels from the Carrera Classic back to the standard S wheels. Sorry Sir NO. All the standard wheel allocation has gone - we can't change your spec! But we can't confirm your build date either? Uhhh?

[&o]Why should Cobalt delay delivery? They are charging ÂŁ979.00 on top of standard metallic so you would think that would speed things up not slow them down [] What would have happened to your order if you insisted on standard wheels? and if they can't confirm your build date would they give you your deposit back until such time they can confirm :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Graham
Get your deposit back and buy a nice 993 4S, fantastic car and I am sure you will be delighted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![;)]

The allocation of standard wheels has been met up until end of July, now 'demanding' standard wheels will put the delivery back 'til then - i.e. August! Getting my deposit back would kick me back to the end of the queue - next December! Got me by the wotsits really.
Apparantly the extra cost for special colour is because they are painted on a separate build/paint line off the main production line! Hence the longer delay. Seems a load of rollocks to me as I ordered the car end of July - how much bl..dy notice does the paint shop want!
Still can't wait though.
Thanks John - have you sold your RS recently? Are we on the third incarnation yet[:D][:D]

[&o]Graham ask your dealer why nearly every RHD launch 987 has been in a special colour ie GT Silver. I will now be wondering if I am to suffer the same delays as you. My dealer didn't squeek up when I confirmed the Cobalt Blue last week [] unless of course special colours only affect Stutgart models :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

If you look at the price list on the Porsche GB web site (for 997 - Boxster prices aren't there yet), it specifies a 2 month minimum lead time on special colours, and 6 months on colours to sample.
2 months from when though? No one at the Porsche Centre Wilmslow can actually tell me - and it seems Porsche GB can't either!
I met Geoff Turall (Porsche UK sales manager?) at the Boxster launch and bent his ear about this subject - still waiting for a response!

[8D]Yes I know that and when I asked my dealer if I go for a special colour will that delay delivery he checked and said it will be 2 months minimum so car ordered last week for Feb build date is more than the 2 month minimum notice required apparently [] but now you have me thinking

You all seem to be getting your new cars much earlier than me. I placed a deposit back in June for a new car and will not be getting it until July next year (2005). It's a 997 Carrera S with all the usual additional options, nothing too special. Is my dealer giving preference to his usual customers at my expense do you think?

Also I've had a 996 C4 since new but I am appalled at the quality of the OPC servicing. Can anyone recommend a good specialist for repairs in the London or Essex area? My recent experience of an OPC makes me shudder!

Thanks

I was told that the UK allocation of cars is split between the dealerships according to their historic sales performance and also their region size. Mine's coming from the Wilmslow Porsche Centre (Stratstones as was) part of Pendragon - which includes two or three other centres. As a group they appear to get more cars through the door, hence lead times shorter(!?). I ordered mine first week of August initially for April build, this was then acknowledged as a Feb build BUT hasn't been as yet confrmed or a build date allocated! I wait in anticipation.
