LAST CALL - German Classics Car Show - Haigh Hall + R18 Concours 11th August

Don't be coming down here with an expectation of winning Mr Trotter. Having a baby seat in that cling film wrapped Boxster is going to cost serious points. [:D]

The standard of the Cumbrian cars has gone up a notch this year [;)]

Plenty of friendly rivalry amongst us and a few ex Concours winners in the fold

Erm, you do know how the marking works South of the border don't you? [:D]

Down here the rivalry isn't friendly, it's bitterly fought or paid for [;)]

Ask Zeb how he scored a podium last year!!

Luckily it is all 'Friendly Banter', but you have heard of 'Being Killed by Friendly Fire' haven't you?

I'm off to the engravers tomorrow to have the winner's name put on the plaque.

Cheers,

Fred straight from the go,

Let the boy's fight it out for 1st prize. I will give them a chance this year no cling film on the way down but i will be happy to take the best Boxster Prize[;)]

Fortunately Spyders have their own separate category. I will be upset if I don't win best Spyder!

Look forward to the ankle kicking gents.

And Fred, seriously, if Zeb wins I'm handing in my cards and buying an F type Jag!! [:D]

Hello Rob,

You'll look good in an F type.

If Flat6 turns up the best Spyder will be a good competition. They looked like twins at Anglesey.

The judging isn't down to me (thank goodness).

All,

Don't forget, there are only two prizes this year, concours winner and competitors' favourite (the only part where I have a vote)

Just off for a drive in the 964, blow the cobwebs and the dust off. May even give it a wash before next Sunday.

Cheers,

Have a nice drive - rain is in its way.

Is it still external only or do I have to get the vac out?

Hello Rob,

Closed (locked) doors, so the main criteria is the external appearance. Doing it this way means the the owners don't have to stay with their vehicles. Everyone will be told the time to stop cleaning / preparing their cars - the time will be dependant on what time everything is in place. Once that time has been reached then no further work on the car will be allowed.

Judges will be just going around the cars in no particular order so that no-one get to find out who they are. What will make it interesting is the judges aren't members of R18 so they won't know who's car they are looking at.

Cheers,

Just hope the judges aren't from the legal profession--Rob seems intent on a breakfast shoot -out for top prize-just a thought -do you think he actually does change all the OGGS on the boxes to OCKS? [8|]

Of course I do ;-)

Thanks Fred.

Have you found judges who don't use the forum then LOL

Those loose fivers under the windscreen wipers of that pesky 997 turbo will come in handy then ;-)

Don't know if they use the forum or not, but i can say they are not members of PCGB.

I thought those fivers were just windscreen cleaning cloths with the Royal Warrant, you mean they have some monetary value? I have to say that the old white fivers clean a much bigger area, and they don't fall apart when I pour vinegar on them.

Cheers,

If its raining is there a prize for furthest travelled Land Cruiser with a PCGB window sticker ?

Paul

Hello Paul,

Strangely enough there is. You get free entry to all our meetings at Garstang for the next year. In the event of a tie, the winner will be the dirtiest one. (car that is, not driver!)

You may have a slight problem convincing the people on the gate that the LC is actually German and is a 'rebadged' Porsche. So they may not let you into the display area.

Cheers,
