London region re-structure

I'm in EN2 - does that count as Essex too? Lahdan! Essix! Lahdan! I'm a lot closer to Herts (4 miles) than Essex (6 miles?) [;)]

Grief. Wish I could make it on Monday but I can never make it out on Mondays (perpetual baby sitter whilst the wife goes out to her Yoga class).

LOL........funny thing geography I was last month at the House of Commons debating with my local labour MP - Joan Ryan - 'anti social behaviour', her headquarters apparently are not in London anymore! I've lived in London and Enfield since 1978 but amazingly according to P.C.G.B. I don't live in London, something is very wrong here, fortuneately this is 'just a car club' and I do have a sense of humour but a little research?

Bring the baby Mr Heed!

I've always assumed, obviously erroneously, that anything within the M25 is London, and outside, isn't....[&o]

Bring the baby Mr Heed!

I would bring the baby - but she'll be asleep. And then there is the small matter of the little boy too. Also, until I get the seatbelts lengthened in the back, I can't take the baby in the 968 anyway - the standard belt does not fit around the Recaro Start + Impact cushion [:(] (new seatbelts going in Thursday btw [:D] )

I've always assumed, obviously erroneously, that anything within the M25 is London

The problem with a London branch is that driving from Enfield, Middlesex to Twickenham, Middlesex takes me an hour or more. In the same time I can have gone from Enfield, right through Hertfordshire and Bedforshire and into Northamptonshire (without breaking the speed limit [] )

Why not bombard Bob Lovelace with all of the above questions and observations as he started the whole thing in the first place. He appears to have alot of spare time to"fix something that was not broke".

What a shame that the new Organiser was not allowed to get on with his new ideas first, and then make changes if requested by the MEMBERS. This is the members Club, although this seems to be forgotten by the Board at times!!!!!

Hi to all ! Thanks Paul for helping out. Johannes here , new RO.
Maybe we should start a porsche musketeers region??!!
Seriously, stay in London , no probs, got some good things happening this year, you won't be dissapointed.
Just to clear up. In porsche post next month all monthly meets will be in there incl Dysart. Also new one at Canary Wharf.

Guys,

I came up with these changes to the post code to region matching table which I can send you if you drop me an email. We need this for the Club System to able to allocate new members to their region.

Note that we have not yet carried out the change of regions on the Club System. So there is still time to fine tune which post codes are in which region - just let Bob know if you see a particular issue

BUT as already said, you can nominate to be in any region you wish, or even multiple ones.

What we want is for members to be able to get to their Region Meeting point with reasonable ease, a tall order in London

Thanks Nick, that would appear to be the issue.

I for one don't care which Region I'm pigeon holed in, since we are at liberty to visit any Regional Meeting or Activity.

Not at all!! We now have London Region meeting points in Richmond, Willesden, and correct me if I'm wrong, Johannes, Canary Wharf.

A couple in the south/south-east and that should wrap it up.

For some 'Londoners', a trip to the Surrey meeting at Esher and Chiltern meeting at Chipperfield, is not out of the question either. This is a car club after all, and some don't need much of an excuse to drive their cars.

Like Melvin I don't particularly mind not being in a region as at least thanks to the current London Region members we nearly have all the region covered with a meeting place anyway, my problem lies in not receiving the letter and hence to put my thoughts forward.

Pete,

I have just checked the System. The reason you did not get a letter is because you are in Region 21 not London. I guess you didn't know this?

So, nothing will change for you, except now you know this, you can nominate to be in the new London region.

Ok I see your point but I am and have been for many years a London resident. Is this nomination business an official thing as if I have to choose I would rather be with the London gang than the Chiltern lot, they are so 'somewhere else'. [:)]

I just sent you an email.

Pete,

Just ask Sarah at Club office to change you to region 20, but best to ask her to wait till after the London region update has been done otherwise you might be changed back again!

I think it is important to inform you all ( remind!!) that each Regional Organiser is allocated £1.50 per member in the region. This allocation is to cover a variety of costs and expenses in running the region and is NOT an"income". It is therefore important that the correct Regional Organiser is allocated the correct amount to enable the region to function.

However in my experiance all RO's will welcome all other members from other regions who wish to support events or their monthly meet.

I hope you can now see how important it is to choose YOUR region carefully and fairly.

HAVE FUN

Good point Paul I'm going to 'sit tight' on this for awhile till things become a little clearer.

Just to add to the thread, I didn't receive any letter either. I live in Kingston and have been reasonably regular at the Dysart meetings for the past year, but am obviously technically out of the region, although the meeting is closer to me than the surrey meet.

Peter,

yes, just checked and you are in R29 not London, this is why you didnt get a letter.
