Look What Santa Brought Me...

Fantastic mate!!

Recession...what recession......lol

I have just bought my 997TT about 3 months ago and considering I have owned a fair few Italians it's just the best car I have driven

Once my divorce settlemt is done I thikn I'll consider a PDK Gen2 with paddles as loved the 360F1 years ago.

I am crapping myself on a spec as I just love the ceramics on my car!! Top wheels choice btw!

many happy miles!!

Paul

... Apologies for it being a bit grubby after the weather...

Don't apologise - always think the patina of road use looks far better than - "oh, look, I've just had my car detailed".

New Turbo now on my radar. Nice wheels btw.

Totally agree, not that you see many of those types of threads in here [;)]

Very nice Mark,

Lovely colour.

Collecting my gen 2 turbo on Jan 2nd - meteor grey also with illuminated sills.

Not PDK though!

Greg

Yes, I'm not an obsesssive car "detailer" (hate that term), the closest I get I guess is that I have been known to polish the exhaust tips...

My car came with Bridgestone Potenzas, got the iPod working today, great addition.

Greg, be sure to show us some pictures, did you manage to squeeze into the 15% VAT?

I like your signature too, Mark. So much nicer than "TT", IMHO![;)]
And the less said about VAT the better - as far as I'm concerned anyway! []

Well, your signature has really let the cat out of the bag now, Alan.

BTW, I notice the Porsche web-site now shows the new VAT prices together with Porsche's revised pricing, quite modest given the devaluation of the GBP. Bottom line though is that the car I bought 7 days ago will now cost £4800+ more. Ouch.

Just call it a slow leak Mark!
They had better not try to pass on any price rises in this direction for a car that was ordered in October and has a build date scheduled - or there may be trouble ahead.......The VAT is bad enough. []

£4800+ for an extra 2.5% VAT? That means your car cost you about £200k!

I thought you pay for the car only when you physically pick it up?! ie. if it's after Jan 1st then you will be paying 17.5% VAT.

That is true. But they have just increased the basic price of the car by around £2k also, so together with the VAT increase you get the £4800. It looks to me as if there is a price rise across the range, not just the turbo.[:(]

I thought price increases only happen every new model year? So for MY2010 cars that would have been at the end of last summer, and for MY2011 that will be at the end of next summer?

Well that might have been the case Alex but the basic price of the UK spec turbo in Nov, with 17.5 % VAT, was £101,898 and as of now it is £103,789. Interestingly the price of the options has remained the same.

That's some cheek by Porsche given how much less it costs them to make the new 997.2 Turbo!

Alex,

It does seem mad doesn't it but since when has the cost of making something got anything to do with how much were charged for it. The IPod classic costs about £2 to make but is sold for over £100......

Its the perceived value of the thing. Porsche obviously feel that the positive halo around the new TT from press reports will allow them to up the price. Lets see if people will still buy it...... The answer probably being yes.

A phone call to my OPC reveals that they found out about the price increase the same way that we did - by looking at the website! So Porsche GB have used the VAT increase as a way of sneaking in a price increase on certain models at the same time but didn't bother to tell the dealerships? I see the GT3 has taken quite a price hike too. I have a feeling that the phones around the OPC's will be getting rather hot at the beginning of next week and that a number of salesmen will have some explaining to do. I did see a post on Pistonheads saying that those with orders already in on GT3's and Turbos were "price protected", but I don't know where he got that info from.
Happy New Year to all our customers...............![]

all I can say is
