Lunch out Nov 14th

Wayne, I don't have email access now until Monday [8|]

But just received your directions.

I would like to recommend a minor change.

One option would be to leave the Bridge Inn & follow the 'old' A1 that runs along side the new A1, this is a fast bit of road that runs up to Borobridge (with roundabouts), from Borobridge you could take the B6265 to Ripon, then turn right at the roundabout onto the A61, then left at the 2nd roundabout & follow your directions to Masham via the A6108.

Follow the A6108 to Leyburn.

This is where I would recommend the main change:

At Leyburn drive upto the roundabout in the market place, turn right & drive 50 meters & take the next left turn up onto Leyburn moor (signed Grinton / Reeth I think). Follow this road to the cross roads, go straight on following the road to Grinton & Reeth. From Grinton we can take up your original route.

I would deffo recommend this route to Reeth over the 'computer generated' route as it is a very scenic route & offers some loverly views of Swaledale [:D]

I have about half a dozen interested so far so i think we're def on for SUN.

See you all at 10am.

Region 7 goes topless on the 14th !!! the ladies were cold but the fellas enjoyed the scenery. Thanks to Wayne and James for the well organised run out in such fantastic weather and countryside in the Dales.

Lets do it again soon. Photos sent to James - hope he has received them.

Seconded
It was a really good day out and it was a good job James knew the roads because it was a bit twisty and bumpy up on the moors.

Regards

Thanks, Wayne and James we really enjoyed the run out. Nice to meet everyone and hope you all had a safe journey home.

Ian and Sharon

Thanks Wayne for the organisation & James for your local knowledge (very useful
bloke to follow on some of those roads!)

Marlies & I both enjoyed the day, would definitely like to do another one soon.

Here's a shot in Masham when the weather was probably at it's best.

Just got back in.

Good to see you all enjoyed it. Thanks to james for qualifying the directions a little !

Hats off to all those who made it to Alston and the Hartside Pass. We will go back there in the Summer for the full roof down experience. The weather came in a bit but I don't think I've ever eaten nutty flapjack in the clouds before!!! Good to see the rear passengers in the 911's still smiling as well - especially the Region 7 junior members :p

And Yes there will be another 'Lunch Out' soon - we'll discuss it at the next meeting. Also, anybody got any pics from today??

My God - what an experiance.

I'm so glad we followed James (just infront of Doug) over the dales to the CB inn - with all the peaks and troughs there could of easily been some "offs" Total concentration required and great fun (the kids loved it). It was good to see just how fast a '73 911 could move.

From the CB inn we followed Wayne, at shall we say a "brisk" pace over to the Hartside pass. Keeping up with the Boxster s was tough in parts especially when it was flexing it's muscles around those twisty corners.

This is exactly the reason I bought my Porsche - to drive it like I did today[:D][:D].

Well done Wayne and James - I'm looking forward to the next one.

What a superb way to spend a Sunday [:D] . Many thanks to Wayne for organising this trip, I really enjoyed the day. Shame I couldn't make the run up to Alston but travelling at any speed on those roads with my headlights can be a bit too exciting [:D]

Good to put some faces to names too, You might even get me popping along to the region meetings at this rate [:D]

Next time we need a road sweeper up ahead of us to remove those anoying VW polos [:D]

here are John's photos

fabulous day out, it had it all, the cars, the weather, the roads, the food, oh, and the company of course!!!!!

glad my 's' had the 'big reds' and a.b.s., they were needed on more than one occasion!!!!

thanks, wayne and james for taking the time to sort the route out, you did good guys!!!!

regards glenn.

p.s. did you see the look on the face of the workman operating the stop/go board in whatever village it was we passed through? an absolute picture, thought he was going to drop the bloody sign!!!!!

yellow boxster 's' called alx

Why there are no photos en route - it did look spectacular all cars in rally mode - we could not catch a yellow 911 lead car - we think it was driven by "the stig".

This is the only moving shot that isn't blurred (too fast and too bumpy)[:D]

Nice shot of your rosy rear Doug?!?!?!

ha ha[:D]

I was tempted to overtake you over the dales - but you kept driving on the wrong side of the road!![;)]

Yes on the wrong side of the road - My father taught me to drive in Italy at 12 years old and I have preferred that side of the road ever since, especially at roundabouts!

Half of our boxster mileage has been done in Europe - much easier!

There are no roundabouts in Germany so my german friend has called them "puddings".

The registration number of my car was on the car I learnt to drive.

LHD car, thinks it's still in the motherland!

Actually I was taking the racing line............only kidding officer!!

Kept you behind me Jacob[;)]

I'd like to say something like ".....with my extra weight in the back..."

But,

Sarah hit the nail on the head when she said "they've got more bottle than you p***y boy[sm=kiss.gif] - put your foot down

Hi All

Just to add our thanks to Wayne and James for organising the day and to everybody else for their good comapny. My rear passengers were OK after I ironed their legs straight when we got home. Their only complaint was when we landed after being airborne, the front spoiler complained a bit too.

My best run out in the car yet.

Look forward to seeing you all again soon.

David & Kathryn

I've got to add my thanks to Wayne for suggesting, motivating and planning Sundays run out, and James for fine tuning the route. Great driving and good company - it would have been even better if half of the mob hadn't gone home early (or got lost) as there were some great roads up to Alston and Penrith.
Funniest moment for me was when a teenage lad on his mountain bike did a double take at all of the cars and ran into a wall (he was unhurt).
Thanks anyway and I look forward to the next run out
