M700 964 Cup car #007 'Kermit'

'Roobarb', the Sternrubin 964RS Basic chassis #1992, has moved on to pastures new. It had a front end paint job to eliminate stone chips to the front PU. bonnet and sills. New airbox fitted to replace the cone filter and the catalytic converter reinstated. So the car was back to standard bar the steering wheel, Matter half-roll-cage and Schroth harnesses. The delighted new owner resides in Norway.

The deed has been done on a worthy replacement. 'Kermit' is being prepared now. It is a 1990 M700 'L' program 964 Cup. It has been confirmed by Porsche as the only Signal Green Cup made for the 1990 series and was delivered to a motorsport customer. Any other well known Signal Green Cup of this vintage did not leave the factory in Signal Green.

The car is resplendent in the generic decals of the 1990 Porsche Carrera Cup. It was raced by Olaf Manthey and was car #33

The car is very low mileage and is almost standard. I will replace the steering wheel and harnesses to contemporary fitments. I may consider replacing the brake ducts with the dummy fog lights. I'm seeking any photographs of the car in its racing days and the generic 1990 Cup graphic artwork that I can replicate.

That looks great Paul, glad you got the car you were looking for.

Interesting that it is the solitary "kermit" car, look forward to reading how you get on with it. [:)]

Finally someone says it how it is!

Looks stunning following it's restoration Paul - enjoy every minute!

Thanks Paul & Mel. I'm starting to gather lots of info and history with the help of register members including Hacki, Des and Paul. I've got contacts to do the graphics but the artwork is seemingly hard to source.

Paul, forgot to ask, ..I do hope you have the wagen pass?

As it clearly goes with this car and V. Columbos campaigning of it.

Thanks Jason. You know me. I'm working on research with the help of 9M, Coys, Porsche, Cup owners in Germany and I'm starting to pull a lot of information together.

It's a car from the 1st 964 German Carrera Cup races and it had some battle scars perfectly repaired by Marc C.

Having languished in a poor state with yellow wheels and strange modifications - it's on the way to being its 1990 self again!

Brilliant post Paul. So pleased you're happy with it and have fun tracing it's correct history.

When doing your detective work make sure you research Colombo though, and not Columbo. [;)]

[;)] You've probably already thought about this, but can the team that ran it, Max Moritz, help out with any pictures they may have? They may have an archive at their HQ or something?

Don't be so hasty stripping the decals Paul -all the bumper, cill stickers incl the Emitec and roundels would have been on the car..... mine was like that before I found what it really was......

A long shot, but could Steve Kevlin (at Club HQ) put you in touch with anyone at factory motorsport who might have access to a photo archive from back then? Or could Steve Murkett do similar?

I have contact details for the Senior Archivist at the museum in Stuttgart if you want them. He was very helpful for me verifying and documenting Butzi's signature a few years ago.
