M700 964 Cup car #007 'Kermit'

Did 9m give you the bag tank that was fitted as a souvenir . Presumably given it had that fitted it has done a few long distance races? Would be interesting to find out? I remember seeing the car when it came up for auction. Fair bit different now[:)]

I believe the fuel tank was fitted in 1998(?) by Neil Bainbridge so that bag tank wasn't used in the PCC races.

Paul,

re brake ducts:

If you want to track it, the brake ducts will be good. (If properly fitted, that means with a hose to the centre of the discs) It´s good to have the dummy fog lights (in the shelf), as it was original that way.

Thanks Hacki. And big thanks for the Cup Christmas present that arrived in the post yesterday!

As opposed to the video gift from Des of '2 Girls, 1 Cup'. Not the 964 race related video I expected as I sat down with the family to watch. :ROFLMAO:

Well done Paul, digging around is the name of the game, it takes time and plenty of elbow grease .... not surprised some official channels are difficult. Porsche Classic, despite 20 emails have not bothered to even respond. I now know my chassis vin and shell number, the story is complete. Keep plugging away!

Were the front bumpers, RS style or blanked off water jets, for the early M700 Cup's?

RS style. The plugs on the water jets holes that you see from time to time on contemporary pics and on cars have just one reason - it was cheaper to take a used C2 (and put plugs in) part than buying a new Cup front bumper after contact with opponents or the gravel. That´s why my car has blanks, too. (After a minor clubsport incident, but big enough to break the front bumper)
From new all the M 700 had RS style bumpers

You won't need open brake ducts if you know how to brake properly.... [;)]

There´s some truth in that, but in fact they do help. When these cars were raced in the Cup those days, some drivers were hard on the brakes, some were not. It could well be that after three races the brakes (incl. calipers) were shot. So, cooling helps. I solved my problems with overheated brakes by changing the way to brake (big effect, Mel is right) and cooling ducts. At the Norisring (very hard on the brakes) Manthey was disqualified because of bigger holes in the discs to get some extra cooling IIRC. So brake temps are an issue.

Short and sharp on the pedal prob helps a lot.

Hi Paul, we met in Sydney a few year's back in the Mykonos steam rooms. Hope you are well and the rash has healed. Doctor O'Faga's potion helped ... confessions of your Pink car were truly moving within the Group now I see you have gone Green .... Hope everything works out and keep the Rainbow flag flying ....[sm=kiss.gif]

Haha - busted! Love it.

Late to this party as well !!

'So glad to hear that the Kermit car has found a deserving and excellent home [:)]

So the the history building really starts ...

Regarding faux driving lights, I would keep the brake vents and obtain the lights only for completeness ..

It's not like you won't be using the brakes [:D][:D]

Do we know all the Cup owners?

Is there a public list?

Can we name them?
