Meuspath. With the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 MR of the 982 generation, Manthey-Racing presents the latest performance kit of its road racing product range. The upgrade kit for the GT model was developed with a focus on track day and club racing events. Conversions are possible from now on.

Manthey-Racing thereby presents another MR complete package for Porsche GT vehicles. As with all Manthey-Racing products, the development of the new Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 MR focused on the best possible performance. Thus, extensive tests were carried out on various race tracks as part of the development process.

"As with all our products, this kit is based on our entire know-how in motorsport. The Manthey-Racing Kit for the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 combines maximum performance with pure driving pleasure," says Nicolas Raeder, Managing Director of Manthey-Racing GmbH.

The MR Performance Kit for the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 (982) is now obtainable at Manthey-Racing. Further information is available on site in Meuspath or by e-mail at sales@manthey-racing.de.

The MR Performance Kit for the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 (Type 982) consists of:
  • MR coilover suspension
  • MR forged wheel set
  • MR brake pad set
  • MR steel flex line set (front axle and rear axle)
  • Protective grille set for air intake
  • MR air deflector
  • MR gurney
  • MR wing brackets

Cheers Ralph!

I think you'd have to be a pretty committed GT4 owner chasing 10ths of seconds per lap to get that kit. There's not a lot to it bar the coilovers so I can't really see how it's worth it...

c€15k + VAT.

Funny i was posting on another forum that we hadn't seen the official release of this package yet, i said i was going to give them a call this AM - and then boom it appears overnight.

I don’t know if anyone tuned in to the Club’s RPM Technik online event on Wednesday but the focus was on Manthey upgrades for a 991 GT3 RS they had in the workshop. Some really nicely designed and crafted aero parts, as well as magnesium wheels, pads and suspension upgrades. I think a figure of £80k was mentioned … [:(]

£89k Jeff - full carbon deck lid and splitter though and lots of other bits...

Thanks for that Dave. I just remember it being an eye-watering amount, but then a 991 GT3 RS doesn’t come cheap. Only for serious race-driver wannabes I think.

Did I hear the presenter say that your Porsche warranty is maintained with those parts? Owing to the relationship between Manthey and Porsche I can understand the mods being sanctioned by the factory, but I can see some interesting conversations taking place once you’re on the Extended warranty judging by the regular conversations here and elsewhere on the subject.

Jeff

I asked the real price, and options .....

This full package price is £20,100 + VAT and import, fitting and set up based on 981 conversion is all in for just under £2k

You can do just the suspension and not the aero but not the aero without suspension. Wheels are optional, and it can be broken down in to smaller components parts such as brake lines.

Yep I have the full suspension (3-way adjustable KW MR custom rates and arms/rods) and brake package (pads and lines) for 981.

ChrisW has full suspension (3-way adjustable KW MR custom rates and arms/rods) package and the wheels for 981.

We also have the additional GT4 Clubsport monoball inners and solid adjustable caster pucks.

Few others have the arm/rod package... as it enables full range of adjustments especially at the front end (longer tie rods) with full safety.

For 981 GT4 they had 2 versions of the coilovers...Competition (Track/Race spec) and Clubsport (Track & Road)

For 718 GT4 they only seem to be offering the Competition (Track/Race) version, based upon the price list that I have for the 718 kit.

This is whats included in the MR upgrade package for OEM suspension.

These are the part MR recommend to be able to set a proper alignment on the car for fast road and track.

This is before then getting into changing dampers or springs etc.

All Porsche Parts… so warranty should remain intact....

[ul][*]Offset Camber Plates… from RS or Clubsport[*]Adjustable Rear Toe Links[*]Shims[/ul]Looks like they prefer camber adjustment from the top now rather than purely through shims and larger LCA inner at the bottom which had the compound effect of increasing track, but threw out caster, which you’d then have to adjust back in. You can now achieve their target alignment with fewer parts and less work/time. The little black things are body width extenders which you can put on the rear arch to cover the slight overlap of the tyre is it protrudes a bit past the side of the original body, when you are correctly set on the rear. Tyre cannot protrude past the body in Europe legally so this addresses.

Price is in the region of €1647.39 including Tax, direct from Manthey Price list. So can imagine it’s in the region of £2k via RPM or JZM… that might also include import taxes and/or install.… but thats a pure guess.

This doesn't make your car an MR though - and you will not be permitted to buy the aero stuff either - you'll need the full KW damper kit to get access to that.

Interesting your comment re camber (and castor?) adjustment via the camber plates T. Much quicker and easier than faffing around with LCA shims I would have thought during a geo set-up?

It would be interesting to see a side-by-side comparison with the standard item, but it looks as though those camber plates have quite a lot of offset!

Jeff

Off-set part on the left. Standard part on the right.

This is great stuff TDT.

In my former Cayman ownership days, I enjoyed experimenting with camber and toe settings, including a wide variety of wheel spacers and tyre compounds. Suspension systems have always been a keen interest of mine. That MR kit looks the business.

If I still owned my much lamented 718 Cayman GTS 2.5t, I would be following up enquiries regarding the compatibility of these MR parts for this model. The 718 Cayman GTS 2.5t intelligently modified is surely the best value route for a devastatingly quick track day Cayman. Tweak the turbo boost, fit Cup 2's, apply the MR suspension mods and it would be a flyer. Even my bog standard car was among the fastest regardless of model on technical twisty circuits such as Knockhill and Oulton Park.

Keep posting the suspension info.

Brian

OK, here's a question for you suspension experts. Is there any benefit to running a kit like this but at the same settings acheived via the standard parts or with a couple of LCA shims like on my car? Or is the benefit just further adjustment and increased camber etc?
