Hi Guys

We were going to Italy for the summer.....but missed one of the dogs rabies jabs so his passport void......doh!

So......we are going to Scotland!!

Should be up around Glasgow weekend of 2/3 August, camping at Loch Lomond then off to CRM's house at Helensburgh, then off south-eastish, Kintyre way, for some seafood (apparently...) then to Fort William to ride the train to Mallaig and back, then Skye, Inverewe, Inverness and hopefully fitting in Carrera Cup at Knockhill on the 17th.....and a day at Edinburgh just chilling with the cafe society while we watch the street theatre from the festival....that's the plan anyway!!

Be great to meet up if any of you guys around.

And any suggestions or must do's most welcome!!

Alex (14) particulary keen to thrash any available adults on a kart track -any ideas????

And please .....pray for some decent weather for us!!!!

Rgds

Hi Mel

I will unfortunately ( well not really I AM looking forward to going away )going to be on holiday when you are up here, so if a meet does take place I am sorry I cannot go. Hope you enjoy your stay and glad from one animal lover to another, you decided to change your holiday for your dog and not leave your dog behind..... a man after my own heart.

What kind of dogs do you have?

Thanx Tim -we're gonna HAVE to go to the Three Chimneys:

Look at the owner's name!!

Not sure about a meet as such, our hols tend to be extremely 'loose' -for instance I've just realised Woodvale Rally on 2/3 Aug!

Jane, since you asked:

Kama Sutra in Glasgow ( Indian )
Loch Fyne Oyster Bar Nr Inveraray for smoked salmon
Rock Pool in Inverness ( mixed but lots of good fish )
Cock and Bull, Peterhead Rd. N. of Aberdeen ( excellent gastro pub/restaurant )
Britania Spice Leith, Edinburgh ( Indian )

Used all these more than once and never had a bad course far less meal.

Scotkart have two Glasgow(ish) tracks: Clydebank and Cambuslang. We're at the Cambuslang one tomorrow afternoon "¦

If you make it to Knockhill for the Carrera Cup, they have an outdoor karting track of their own beside the real racing circuit.

Mel they are two very very handsome dogs indeed, no wonder you are not going away without them [:D]

ps thanks for posting the pics, I appreciated it [;)]

Yes, the Steve Carter web site suggests a very good route - but most of the roads up there are great. Even at this time of year with the tourists around. Normally plenty of visibility for overtaking.

Tip: If your fuel gauge says "half", start looking for somewhere to fill up!

Thanx for all info guys.

Just bare in mind I will be in this:

From Inverness continue West and head for Loch Carron, from Loch Carron turn right and proceed to Kishorn.
Kishorn was a major player in oil construction and at one time employed over 3000. The site was returned back to as was although you can still see the dry dock. From Kishorn take the Applecross road, this is reputed to be one of the steepest roads in europe and you would have seen it in many car adverts in the past.

Not suitable for campervans if I recall...? [&o]

That is a very very nice campervan indeed, what make is it?

We just bought ourselves a caravan last year and are heading off in that down south next week. [:D]

Here is hoping that the weather is better this year than it was last year, with alot of the sites being flooded out []

Applecross is indeed not suitable for campers caravans etc ,,infact they should not be aloud on the ****** road [:D][:D][:D] ........ awaits torents of abuse from AL.[:D][:D]..... Mel any where up here is good but the west coast is in my opinion the best especialy around Durness area I am off down south to the Tipc meet this weekend so hope for sunshine have a good trip no matter where you end up you will have a great time this is afterall Gods country it is just a pity he made us neighbours [:D]

Sorry but as I am using my companies server I am unable to see your pictures.
But VW seem to manage it (hopefully picture attached)

If you are doing the Applecross route, the Applecross Inn cannot be beaten for the best fish or fish and chips Period! No debate! [:D]

Re accessability, despite the photo above, the descent it is very tricky. I was stuck for an hour in my Range Rover whilst a repair truck came up one way to collect a car that had been hit from behind coming down!

Agree you could drive a VW transporter up but a camper van not sure !! just look at the rear overhang and the width compared to the VW you can do the drive round the long way just for the fish supper if you want ,but the drive over is what most people come for
