Melv Hits The Highlands!!!

Thanx for feedback chasps.

Mrs Melv told me about a road which shouldn't be driven, "but I'm not gonna tell you where it is because you will go and drive it...."

So THAT is where it is.....prob give it a miss. In my experience FWD and fully laden 'van do NOT go hand in hand with steep hills and sharp bends......

However, alpine passes are another story.....[;)]

Another must do, apparently, is Plockton.....

Jane -it's a Benimar, BTW. Made in Spain and designed for the Med with reversible extract fans on all skylights, aircon, external shower, external BBQ point, huge opening roof light, and all windows and rooflights have mesh screens...which in Dumfries and Galloway a few years ago we've watched midges crawl thru......

That's where the palm trees grow, there is also the Inverewe gardens.
Take the long route to Applecross and you can drive back the way and stop for the view of the road that I mentioned. Worth looking at and the view is spectacular across the Torridon hills.

Melv has broken down and is stranded in Fort William!

Shame as he will not make the Carrera Cup at KH.

Charles

Yep...done a rear bearing and FNS bottom ball joint -recovered on truck -how ironoc given my chosen current career!![:D]-only got fixed today by 'Badge' Edgar in Fort William -he looks after or knows Any Gows GT3??

Most garages booked up for over a week here so we was lucky to get in!!

Mallaig 2mrw (Fri), ferry to Skye Sat and lunch at The Three Chimneys Mon -so regret will miss out on Carrera Cup...shame!

Looks like you are getting the best of the weather up there ...p***** it down in the certral belt ,enjoy your stay nice part of the country esp Skye

Skye.....what can I say, except this has got to be one of the most awesome parts of the world I have been to!! Can't understand why they felt they had to film 'Lord of The Rings' in New Zealand (and been there...) Just knocked out by the majesty and vastness of it all...[:)]

Typing this in a site at Dunvegan -it's warm and the sun has been shining for two days, and lunch at The Three Chimney's excellent -since you asked....[;)]

Gently back to mainland tomorrow via Eilean Donan castle and then to Fort William to get repairs finished -there are three types of ball joint available for Ducato -Fiat sent two from Inverness to try and guess what...[&:]

Skye is MEGA if you got it with some blue sky ....I've only ever seen the top of the Cullins once over 4 trips , photographed them, and then promptly dropped the camera in a loch while seal watching at Dunvegan !!!
Touring cars and Porsche Cup were awesome at KH , but a major downer for Charles Bateman with an enormous smash at Duffis dip ( Seat curves) he was OK but car was heavily damaged , one of the highest speed collisions i have ever seen at KH , can't wait for a wet Wed track night up there - NOT.
Speaking of which there are some Porsche guys on track this Wed 6- 8 , you would be welcome Mel

Melv is still stuck in Fort William! The Kelts will not let him go. Ordered 2 wrong wheel bearings so hopefully the 3rd one will fit today!

He is popping in tomorrow then off to Edinburgh for some festival thing. Just for the tourists I think.

Charles

Melv has been and gone........

Got a bit excited when I showed him his Cup car racing at Hockenheim.

There were a few contacts and he was in a sweat when we went for dinner.

Good to see him up North!
