Midlands Breakfast club 26th April
Followed by a drive out and Lunch

Sunday April 26th is the Midlands Breakfast club held at RAF Cosford, Just off the M54 and East of Telford.
A free meeting held there from 8.30am offering a very relaxed and wide range of cars of various ages and genre.

Added to this is the fabulous Cosford museum including the stunning Cold war museum, certainly worth a trip on its own and again offers free entry to all. Aprils date is expected to be a really good turnout and we have been offed prime parking spots within the show.

We plan to attend the show and after giving you plenty of time to view the museum and cars venture off, I'm planning to leave the museum at about 11am. Having driven the route the start of the day is the slower roads getting you into the swing of things.

We will firstly meander across Shropshire firstly to Ironbridge. http://www.visitironbridge.co.uk/worldheritagesite.aspx

We'll stop for 30 minutes for a chat and photo opportunity.

Upon leaving the Iron bridge we will meander along the Wrekin valley and the spectacular views of the Longmynd to our lunch stop that offers a great value carvery at £8.95 for adults along with other meal options. http://www.klicksolutions.co.uk/clients/dine/tr/dining.html The drive along the Wrekin is a great road with plenty of space and winding bends after the long straight that is the Wrekin. The lunch venue has a large plentiful parking.
Lunch is approximately 120 minutes from the start (including stops)
Some people may wish to just sample the day and join us for Lunch, I have no problem with that as long as you do book your lunch sitting as it is a very popular venue, especially with other car clubs.[:)]

The Longmynd is wide open bushland with passing places offering panoramic landscapes for miles.

Crossing over the Longmynd offers some great open spaces sometimes a little too open!

The view over the other side as you come back down, I'm not sure what the plastic posts would actually do?

Following on from Lunch its some great flowing roads into Wales with plenty of hairpins to try your hand at. The directions are easy and the road is challenging. The driving time from the lunchstop is approximately just over 1 hour before we stop at an award winning Tea shop for afternoon tea and scones, all hand made and picnic benches in the gardens to enjoy.

After running the route today, Ludlow seems an ideal finishing point as it allows the group to go its separate ways in all directions via the motorways. I will be heading towards the M5 south/M42/M40 over some great roads and forest sections.

The route is 140 miles and about 3 hours of driving pleasure, with stops and dinner I would imagine finishing for 3.30pm
You will see that I have altered the route in order to finish earlier in the day than originally proposed.

Hi Gary,
Sounds like just the tonic for April and opportunity to compare turbo rattles, count me in.

Thanks

Paul

Super, I like a nice Turbo contingent... [:)]

I'm bringing both of my apparent rattles [8|]

I went out for a test run on this yesterday and must admit its a great selection of roads.[:D] even if I do say so..
Not a single speed camera and even on a Sunday the roads were quiet and traffic free.
Lunch was a great serving and Value for money at £8.95, even if they have offered to do us a deal for 2 coarses[8D]

Shame you guys could not combine this with the cotswold rally on the same day.

Paul which way are you going as we could drive in convoy until i need to split to go to Cornbury House.

cheers

Different directions El, there is the intention for the 997 register to have a cotswold run during the modern porsche event in may a few weeks later.

Paul

We've been out and ran the Cotswolds route today [:)] just got to make the tulip maps up and re-run to check they are correct..[:)]

Shorter than our normal type of route but a great taster of various types of roads, including the great switchback up Sun rising.[8D]

The clubs Cotswold route is very much the Southern side of the Cotswolds, so sadly very much differing directions and possibly types of event [;)]
Very unfortunate that they clash but I have set neither of the dates.

Gary sorry can't do this as have a drifting day at Silverstone on that day in a Caterham!!!! ( a birthday present from John)

The breakfast club meets are great, have been loads of times, and the museum is worth a look, so hope you all have a lovely day.

I shall think of you all as I slide around sideways!!!!!

Gary

Any spaces left
There is indeed Tom

I'm very much looking forward to this one... Jo drove the route last time with me as navigator.. she had a great time [:D] as did I [;)]
She has never been to the museum, where I have so I should be able to spend some time in the carpark this time, with good weather on our side.

We have also been offered some prime parking spots at the breakfast meet itself but I have yet to confirm them 100% I wanted to be sure we could fill the parking spots before confirming.

Hi Gary, could I also add my name to the list please? Pam is away that day so I will be solo, but it seems like a great way to run my new car in!! Best wishes, John Megarry

Hi Gary

Any chance Clare and I could sneak into the line up ?

If so do I need to ring the pub myself to book lunch?

Eddie

Eddie
Both you and Clare are welcome to join us.
I have added you both to the dinner table booking.

Only a couple of weeks away for this event. do we have any more takers?
We do have parking for a few more at the Museum.

garyw

Gary - I would like to join you for this event, if I am not too late. Do you need any payment in advance for lunch bookings etc?

Terry
