Midlands Breakfast Club - Sunday 3rd February 2008

We've been chatting about having a simple meeting of the register to allow the newer members to introduce themselves and meet some of the other people.
I'm not suggesting a drive with this event so there will be plenty of time to chat and mingle with both the register members and the folks with other cars on display.
I'm suggesting this as its a centralish meeting area for a register get together...
Its North Birmingham and easy access to the Motorway Network, Cheshire and the North
Easily accessible from the South via the M40, M5,
M6 and M6 Toll
As well as the hearty breakfast on offer the museum will be open from 10am for all to view, its well worth the trip just for the museum.

The event is a gathering of Classic, Retro, Sports and Performance cars. Breakfast from 9am through to midday- Our suggested meeting time is 10am
"We must emphasise that the RAF Museum have been good enough to have us there (again!!) and we would like to show them some thanks and respect by driving in a safe manner whilst there, and now showboating, donuts or burnouts as there's plenty of Maccy D's car parks to do that kind of thing!! "

Full address is:
RAF Museum Cosford
Shifnal
Shropshire, TF11 8UP

By Road

Cosford is centrally located with good motorway access from the M6 southbound (Junction 12) via the A5, one mile from junction 3 on the M54 for northbound travelers. The Museum is only thirty minutes from the centerer of Birmingham and ten minutes from Telford. We have a large free car park on site.

It's so unusual for an event to be close to my home I must try to attend. In fact, it's so close that I probably won't get the oil up to temperature on the drive to the museum so definitely no showboating from me! What time is breakfast?

Richard, would be great to have you along, cold engine or not [:D]

The event/breakfast starts from 9am, I'm checking at what time the museum opens to see how long I can actually stay in my bed for [&o]

A bit early for me on a Sunday, I hope that they will still be serving food around 10! I have already "opted-out" of the horse riding taxi run that day so I hope to meet a few fellow PCGB members.

Looking at the previous events, although not held at the same venue, the Breakfast were available until about midday.

I too would in all fairness say 10am at the earliest, I'm awaiting a few more details from the main event organiser and will post up the information as I get it..

Allan, not too far from your, so I expect to see a clean car...[;)] I however will have an excuse [:D]

If you saw the state of the lanes around my house (2 miles of single carriageway with passing places - little better than a farm track in the winter) you would understand why my car will be anything but concours condition - despite my proximity to Cosford.

Just checked my sat nav and its 68 miles for me to Cosford - I should be around so will add it to diary.
Not sure if Mrs M will join - 8.00 am on a Sunday! She only ever
sees the PM 8 o'clock at weekends!

Graham, See you for Breakfast and a cup of Tea [:)]
Not sure if my Mrs will be with me, actually she's more likely to see 8am than myself....

Hmmm, it's 140 miles for me, and nearly 3hrs drive each way.

The Mrs teaches an aerobics class Sun mornings so I am not too sure I will be able to get her to cancel it and come along. That's quite a bit of public road driving to do on your own in a day. Will have to think about it. Would be great to see you guys though.

Always like to have breakfast BY 9.00 am [8|] - just giving myself plenty of time to get up at 8 and shower etc etc [:D]

Thread tidied so we all know where we're going...[;)]

Alex, we'd love to have you along but I fully understand how being stuck in a Porsche 480bhp Sports car on empty roads in the morning for 140 miles could be a drag [;)]
At least the venue is worth the trip along with getting to meet the rest of us early birds...

Roger.. lower Slaughter is just down the road,[;)] nothing better than a greasy Breakfast after an all night drinking and gambling session [:D]

This is just the first of the events this year, The Cotswold event is finished in the planning, just the dates and Hotel to be announced...[;)]

50:50 for me from here its 140 miles eaither way - its most of the way from where I live "down south" to the inlaws (J18 on M6) so might get pressure to see them there

Hmm empty motor way near Birmingham does not compute - I have been in major traffic jams between J4 - J9 at 3 am in the morning before now.

Gary
Would have been a good excuse to plan a weekend around, but we're away on hols.
Next time.

Thanks for at least thinking about it guys, it is a late notice type of event and I appreciate your comments [:)]

We will be holding events down the South and up the North of the Country hopefully later in the year...
I'm testing another route in Wales and North Yorks moors over the next few weeks, damn its a hard life eh!

A little heads up as this is only a week away...

Looks like there could be a good showing by the Italian bridgade... [] so come on troops.

You will also get a chance to meet the newest member of the 997 register committee [;)]
