Modern Register event-Silverstone -23rd may 2010

Once released for ticket booking, likely to be PPost March edition-published end of Feb-please book quickly to ensure you receive your complimentary driving element choice of handling circuits type, it is estimated we can run 496 elements, hence 1st come 1st served, the price is £10 per member, includes event entry, displaying your 996 within the circuit and of course a foc element (kickplate/water low friection/off road etc), plenty of other static nd dynamic activities will be running, a family day and club shop , full concours and excellent displays of modern, new and in cases older special cars display.

From what I understand...

Infield parking will be for Modern day Porsche's only...
The event will be open to all club members, so the 496 places are on a first come first served basis.

For your £10 you will have a single passenger ride on one of the event sections at Silverstone with one of the centres professional instructors on either- kickplate, Ice Hill or off road.- this is for pre-booked tickets only.

As to whether the £10 for passengers includes them on a driving experience, I am not sure...

The rest as they say, will be announced shortly in Porsche Post.

To put the record straight, at a meeting with Geoff Turral at the NEC last week, it was decided all members of whatever Register are invited and will be located within the PDEC, although the event is principally directed toward the modern Registers, Boxsters and later.

The entrance fee for members will be £10 each and £15 each for non-members. It is envisaged that there will be 496 places for members to take their cars on either the kick plate or the ice hill or for members to have conducted rides on the handling circuit and off road track.

There will be a concours and Club Shop in attendance. Various other activities are expected to be put on during the day. The PDEC restaurant will be open and there will also probably be a burger or similar type bar.

Tickets/slots are now available for this event- only the first 496 people booked get the extra of going on one of the driver experiences.
Full details are in the Porsche Post - new look next month [:)]

The club is also running a Concours at this event , with all the recent chat on polishing and interior cleaning I'm obviously excpecting a large turnout for the concours[;)]
If anyone would be interested in entering a concour, please do email rhe RS in the first instance or post below.
Also, we may yet be looking for a register pedal kart team [:D]

I can just imagine the PDEC chef's reaction to a burger bar- [adopt outrageous French accent] A berger bar? A berger bar? Sacre blu - I will not have such merde in mon restuarant - away with you English pig-dogs.

So - no likelyhood of tanking around the newly-polished Silverstone GP track in a Turbo then?

The club are still looking for anyone who fancies volunteering to assist in the Marshalling of cars at this event.
Its in 4 hour shifts and you'll be fed, watered and have free access to the day [:)]

I'll be there if you need a hand to hold [;)], So if you fancy feeling the power of the Hi-Viz jacket get in touch with Narinder at the club office on 01608652911

It has to be said that myself and Rob had some brilliant fun and laughs on the front gate of the Silverstone Classic- and we had to know all the models... odd how quick you learn [;)]

and don't forget the power of the jacket :ROFLMAO:

Have spoken to Narinda.
Excellent news, I felt it adds to the event and you do seem to get to meet lots of people during the day..

Anyone else booked tickets yet?????

I'd be interested in this event...but won't actually be a 997 owner till end of the month and only just joined the PCGB...can I book tickets?

Tickets can be purchased by calling 020 88758689
They say to have your driving license to hand when calling if you want to participate in one of the driving events- which I suggest you do [:)]
This number is direct with Porsche cars and not the club

Make sure you also have your club membership to hand otherwise its an extra £5pp

News from the workers conference is that the tickets are going very well for this event [:)]
I had requested the possibility of presentations from Porsche cars on various topics of a technical nature, I have been informed that these will indeed take place to limited numbers- due to space.
The exact topics of these presentations are yet to be finalised.

I was wondering if anyone on here can help.

I tried to book tickets for the event, not bothered about the driving event but was after the In-Field parking as I was bringing my 2007 GT3rs.

I know I was a little late calling Monday 9th, but only got the answer phone, left a message but never had a call back. Tried again this morning, again answerphone and no call back. Finally spoke to someone this afternoon after calling again, to be told the bookings are now closed. ( Closed yesterday ). I can only pay on the day, but NO infield parking will be available.

Not what you would expect, when the event is still 10 days away ?

Bob, its not something I have been made aware of!! [&:]
I was aware of limited space infield but assumed all 'modern cars' whether booked prior or on the day were available to park there..
Saying that , obviously there is only limited space available but I'm slightly annoyed that I didn't realise there was a closure date..[8|]

I also hope that it is kept to modern cars only infield!
I will email to see if anyone knows anything more..

Hello everyone.

Just found out (and asked to put things straight...) the following

Tickets are available to purchase on the day, and if possible payment by cash is better due to limited credit card facilities.
If you arrive before 10am, providing your car is part of the Modern Register (i.e. Boxster and Beyond) infield parking is available on the day... obviously you will not be able to move your car before 4pm due to Health and Safety.

Hope that helps!
