My 993 CS Race car is nearly finished

ORIGINAL: Steve Rance

Getting close now. looking nice. Paul and Tony's attention to detail is incredible

Hi Steve,

Good to see you, Paul and Mandy yesterday at the Spray shop! The car looks amazing and really impressed in the detail that has gone into the finish on all facets. You have a very nice car nearing completion, the photo doesn't do it justice. Will be interested to see the paint work when it has been finished & polished to Tony's standards.
Please keep us updated.

Nice to see you too Simon. Sorry that we didn't get time to chat. See you at Oulton?

Almost there. Not rushing it for Oulton so Unfortunately I can't help fly the air cooled flag for you Guys. Dont worry, I will be out in it very soon

Here is another Pic. The Engine, gearbox and electrical systems are working fine, just a few detail jobs and the car will be finished

Nor me. The 964 and 993 RS/Clubsports are some of my most favourite cars to drive of all time. So delicate and beautifully balanced compared to the more brutal and intimidating water cooled variants.

It's just the picture. The are brand new porsche supplied 993 RS items. Amazing value I have to say at under £600 for the front pair!

Hi Steve, car looks superb , love the colour will it be ready by May 27 as theres a Brands GP open pit lane day @ £375 its cheap next to the £700 odd later in the year

Thank you, I'm glad that you like it.

May do the Brands Day but will do a shakedown test at Snett first. if all go's well, I will do Brands. If so, i'll see you there!

Just an update. The car is now finished and on the road. I have to say that the rose jointed suspension, lack of power steering and race set up do not make it the delicate car that I was expecting. To be honest, it's a little more like Frankenstein's monster. But when i thought about it, the spec of the is a little beyond cup spec and I think it's probably better to compare it to the 996 cup car in terms of dynamics than a road car. And that would also be a real handful on the road in race geo. I factored this into my brain the car made more sense. It is built to work in a zone which is basically impossible to achieve on the road without risking the lives of others which i am not prepared to do. Brake where you expect to and the car stops before you even turn in! try to trail brake and the car stops mid corner. You need to carry ludicrous speed to drive the car properly which means it just doesnt work at all on the road and driving it in that environment is a clumbsy and awkward experience but since it will spend a lot of it's time on the track, I am happy to live with it.

The engine is very strong over 3k. Wayne Scholfield managed 321 BHP and 301 ft lbs which in a car weighing in at under 1100kg is more than enough for trackday fun!
