Thanks Steve. I'll put a few road miles on the car, give it a spanner check, get some dunlop slicks and skulk up to Snett to do a test. Will let you know when. Hoping for some quick times.

Took the 993 to Bedford yesterday for a shake down. I ran it on cups because i didn't want to use up the best of a set of slicks just to get a balance in the car. The balance was pretty good right out of the box. The only problem being that I the front neg camber is pretty extreme and the cups do not have the grip of slicks so I had to adjust braking technique to get around the abs being constantly triggered and that lost a lot of time under braking. Once the car was turned in, the corner speed was very good. It is difficult to be objective about the pace of the car as 911's are all about braking and without slicks the car was compromised in that area. The Motorsport ABS was less obtrusive that the road version but still massively increases braking distance so on a dry circuit it's essential that it doesn't trigger. In the end, i had to brake far earlier than I would like and use engine braking during the heal toe process to help get the car stopped. This made it difficult to set up the car to the apex which is generally where all of the time is made up in a 911. I am confident that slicks will pretty much erase this problem. It is certainly a testament to the potential speed of the car that even with the braking problems and having to short shift by the noise meters, I was still able to pretty much Keep up with the JPR sports car giving rides on the day. The car did start to run a little hot after a relatively short time but I think that maybe this is a faulty oil cooling fan. I am pleased with the balance in the chasis and the potential pace of the car. I plan to run slicks sometime soon. Will keep you updated

Sounds very promising Steve,

Did you do anything to supress the noise for the day, or is that how you plan to run the car?

The good news is that if you can get through a day without upsetting the noise police at Bedford, you should be able to run the car almost anywhere.

Had to short shift past the noise meters but other than one flag warning it was pretty much ok. Interestingly, the difference in dynamics between the water cooled cars and the 993 is smaller on the circuit than on the road. The 993 behaved in a very similar way to the 996 on the circuit. The 964's feel very different. 5 link The rear suspension on the 993 is a big move on from the 964. The 993 is a lot more physical to drive though and needs a more assertive style

Thought you guys may be interested. I have purchased a brand new high pressure ABS pump, master cylinder and spare motorsport abs unit for my 993. Once they are fitted, i'm pretty sure that i will have a nut and bolt clubsport spec race car since everything else on the car with the exception of the rose jointed suspension and plexiglass windows is exactly correct.

It will be interesting to see the difference in braking performance if any.

Good luck Steve , just needed one of those pumps , have nt seen bill yet think £1000 + , crazy money i reckon !

Not a clue Mate .................will let u know if its on the bill or visible when i see the car this week .......at these prices i prefer not to look !

There were some BOSCH units on e-bay circa £500 don't know if the same the 993/964RS ABS and yet again Cup Car RSR are differently calibrated.
