My Porsche journey (AKA Search for Nirvana...)

Well Don... Interesting topic that reminds me that I still have not done my post on the things that did not go as planned...

I ordered all the parts from www.supertweaks.com and it has been a total disaster as the parts were never delivered and I never got a refund (£1.000+ loss...).

Since the start for the COVID crisis, they stopped responding to calls "for the safety of their teams" and ask to be only contacted by email... As nothing had been delivered by August 2020 I asked (by mail) to cancel my order and get a refund.

They sent me the confirmation that my order was cancelled but the refund never came... Since this last contact, they have ignored all the follow-up email I sent...

My offical feedback on them: https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.supertweaks.com

Sad story and absolutely gutted...

Hi Jonathan,

The car did not show any symptomes of IMS problems or Bore scoring.

An engine rebuild was in my mind since I purchased it as now close to 100K (very decent longevity, in my opinion, for a performance engine but impossible to ignore the fact that some internal component might need to be refreshed after 15 years of service...).

If you add to this the known mechanical failures risks of the M97 engine on the first gen 997, it made sense to me to do the full engine rebuild as a preventative maintenance (and peace of mind [:D]).

Hartech added the opportunity to increase power and torque in the process that was really appealing to me so I pressed the Red button slightly ealier than anticipated (and what else to do during the COVID lock down...).

If you paid by card, not just credit card, your card issuer will refund you

That is the other problem... I no longer have an account with the credit card company that I used to pay for these orders but you have a point and I am going to give them a call anyway... Nothing to lose...

Very sorry to hear about your experience with Super Tweaks, I was thinking of ordering some parts from them, so you have saved me.

Hope you are successful getting your money back through your ex card company.

Have you found anther supplier of interior carbon fibre parts?

Regards

Don

Carbon parts project currently on hold as my wallet took a big hit with the engine rebuid & suspension update [:D]

I'll relook at my options in later 2021 but so far, no other UK carbon parts supplier identified (I have not looked extensively though...).

Thank you, Design911 are OE and therefore rather expensive although not as expensive as OPC. I will continue to look on eBay.

Thanks, I have just looked and prices seem about the same as Desigh911, I will keep checking for bargains.

Hello all,

with regards to my SuperTweak odyssey, I have been contacted by other victimes after I left my assessment on trustpilot.

This seems to be a professionally managed hustler business ran by a family (Daniel and Tal Webb) that possesses multiple website:

http://www.incarnav.com

http://www.xoscapital.com

https://www.tweakedautomotive.com

https://www.supertweaks.com

https://www.tweakedperformance.co.uk

If you see any reference to one of the names above, my advice to you is to stay away from them!

I'm pretty sure you can still log a claim via "Section 75" see here https://www.moneysavingex...rotect-your-purchases/

"Section 75 is fantastic protection – if you order something and the retailer goes kaput, you can still claim your money back from the credit card provider (even if you've since closed your credit card account)."

I have learned something today (at a cost)...

Section 75 only protect credit cards, not debit cards (and there is a 120 days limit to raise a dispute for the second).

Guess what I have paid my Supertweaks orders with in May 2020...

At the end of the day, life goes on... :ROFLMAO:

Whilst this is true on the 120 day limit, you are entitled to take this to the Financial Services Ombudsman as what you are referring to is 'chargeback' which is a scheme run by each financial service provider not to Section 75 of the CCA. It therefore falls underneath their remit if you are not getting any joy from your bank to push through with a claim.

I would also consider pursuing the company through the Small Claims Court which is fairly straightforward, particularly if you have correspondence and evidence of your payment to them, lack of ability/willingness on their part to execute their obligations to you, i.e. deliver your items [:D]

Good luck and great thread!

I have raised a Small claim this morning. Thank you for the tip and let's see if this makes a difference...

Good Luck with the claim.

I raised a Small Claims Court action for non payment of an invoice some years ago. I was surprised how easy it was to do online.

The company involved paid up promptly, they did not want a County Court Judgement made against them.

Let us go back to some 997 discussions, shall we?

Now that the exterior and the mechanical aspects of my 997 are almost sorted, I can start focus on the interior to finish my project.

Cabin project #1: Steering wheel upgrade to Paddle Gear Shifters

I really beleive that the current Tiptronic cars steering wheel button system is detrimental to the experience of using the car in manual mode (I experienced this first-hand during my last track day at brands Hatch). The objective of this project is to add paddles to shift between gears more efficiently (Left: Down - Right: Up) and improve the usability and pleasure. Of course, this will have no influence on the Tiptronic box gear shift time.

After looking at what is possible, I narrow it down to 3 options:

[ul][*]Upgrade to a later generation Porsche Steering wheel (997.2 to 991.2 possible but not simple swap - some Electronics upgrade also required)[*]Install an aftermarket Steering wheel[*]Modify a 997.1 generation steering wheel[/ul]As I wanted this upgrade to remain loyal to what I have done to my 997 so far (discrete upgrade that improve/modernise the car comfort/performance without betraying the original spirit & design) I have decided to disregard the first 2 options that, in my opinion, would have looked out of place in a 997.1 cockpit.

At first, I was thinking of recycling my exisiting 997 Tiptronic steering wheel but finaly decided to swap it for a manual Gen 1 sport steering wheel in order to get rid of the Tiptronic buttons and get the sleekest possible look.

What is needed for the mod:

[ul][*]997 Gen 1 Manual Sport steering wheel - £399 on eBay[*]Mercedes Benz Paddle Gear Shifters (Ref: A1712670046) - £187 on eBay[*]Steering wheel Tiptronic wire harness - £99 directly from Porsche [*](Optional) Steering wheel Retrim - £180 at royalsteeringwheels.com[/ul]I have just sent the steering wheel below to “royalsteeringwheels” for a retrim.

To be continued…

Hello, firstly nice car.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune with supertweaks, I almost ordered some carbon stuff from them back in the original lockdown. So glad I didn't after reading this.

I did however order a carbon fiber handbrake sleeve to go with my Porsche original steering wheel and gear knob from DBcarbon. (I spent almost 2 years looking for a original Porsche item, didn't want to pay 850+vat from Porsche)

I can say I'm very happy with the item. It's spot on with the OEM Porsche carbon weave. You can't tell them apart side by side.

And it is actually real carbon fibre not wrapped plastic parts which was very important to me (wrapping is so much cheaper but not the real thing for me)

It took a while for him to make it but he gave me a production date and a shipping date and to his word it arrived on the date he said.

Communication was spot on. And I wouldn't hesitate to order from him again.

Well, well, well...

Some interesting news over the weekend...

Following the submission of my small claim court action last week, I received a full refund from Super tweaks...

No apology message of any kind though but at this stage, I don't really care as they are blacklisted for life as far as I am concerned.

Thanks to Pat's advice, I have £1.000 back in my 997 project's budgets.

Very happy!!!:ROFLMAO:
