Nearly new year drive 28th December

Ah ha, Ms Goff! We could use a Panza out front clearing the way for the more delicate cars.........[:D]

BTW, I see your "944 & snow scene" thread has gone off topic - just a little bit:ROFLMAO: Just can't get the moderators these days........(sigh)

I got held up behind one of those recently!! well November the 6th actually
Got passed it eventually.... in the diesel burner :p [;)]

Hopefully you're all having a great christmas so far; [:D]

A copy of the proposed route for the 28th

I've driven the route and the roads at the moments are all fine (apart from about 50mtrs through Packwood house) dirty and wet but clear of snow..[:)]
However the views are excellent with snow covered fields etc..

The route is 2 hours driving and 65miles in distance on mostly A/B roads rather than the narrow snow covered ones I sometimes pick [;)], the start location has a Shell station and a coffee house on site..
The end destination of the Bear in Berkswell which serves food and coffee all day long with plenty of parking (its R9 monthly meeting venue) and is about 5 minutes from the NEC/M42/M6 for the return leg.

I you could signify if you are still interested in joining to assist me in printing enough maps..

Departing at Midday, giving eveyone a nice gentle day and allowing any frost to thaw..

213 miles total for me; that shoudl put enough zip back in the battery for a few more days. Unless there's any more snow, I'll see you at midday.

See you there at 12 noon tomoro.[:D]
Last outing for the TT[>:]

997TT Cobalt Blue - almost gone!
Cayenne Diesel Gen2 Meteor Grey- just the job for this weather!
997 GT3 Gen 2 Snow Colour- nearly arrived!

Have a good one guys - hope this doesn't get you......[&:]

Just been out for 1st time in the motor for 2 weeks so welcome a bit of a blast tomorrow - weather permitting - thanks Alan!

Gary - I can help with printing maps & directions off - how many do you want me to do?

Spooks & I will be travelling up the M1 from J15A from about 10.15 so if anyone else wants to tag along, let me know

See you tomorrow

See you all tomorrow - IF the thaw continues. (Our drive and road, as well as the 2 miles to a main road are still covered in ice and snow that are only easily passable with winter tyres - and I turned down Sutton Coldfield OPC's kind offer of winter wheels and tyres for a mere ÂŁ2200!)

Hi Gary

Plan to be there.

I presume meet is at services A38 junction with A50

Randolph
Thats the ones, its Junction 4 of the A50- do not confuse them with the ones actually further up ON the A50, these you exit of the Island and enter the proper services..
Departure for midday but I'm sure you'll find me in the Starbucks prior [:D]

Jon, I've got the maps covered now via autoroute but thank you for the kind offer [:)]
Local weather is saying snow today - which didn't happen and fog for the next few days...

Part of the route some of you may have done before- as some of it is the part of the test route for the CG test drive [;)]

Hi Gary,
Would it be ok for me to join you guys on the run tomorrow. I could do with giving the new car a bit of a run and i only live down the road.

Thanks
Paul

I'm pleased to report that unless I'm in some sort of micro-enviroment that the snow did not appear [:)],
infact the rain we had washed away some of the snow..

garyw

+1 My first meet today, Thank you all for making me feel welcome was a great feeling to drive in convoy with you all.
I am now looking forward to some better weather and more of the same!
Cheers JP.

Gary

Great day as ever with a great run despite the weather - Plenty of slide ways action, even from Gary............

Great to see some familiar faces and some new ones.

For those that missed it - lunch was very nice.

Thanks again to Gary & Jo for organizing a running such a great day out.

Roll on better weather and 2011

Great to see 8 cars out in convoy today[:)]

My Thanks to all those that came out both new and old... It's always great to see new faces enjoying the idea of the 997 events [:D]
Sadly the fog and weather did reduce the progress today- that along with so many 42mph drivers!!!!! [:(]

I also couldn't believe the amount of people out without headlamps on!! made for some hard overtaking when even possible...
I hope you enjoyed the route even with it not shown in its full glory, I'll hopefully cover the ground again as the roads are great when dry, open and clear [8D]
The one additional road to the route did give me a little surprise whilst watching the hedge out of the windscreen [&:] [;)] all adds to the fun!!

Enjoy the rest of the holidays and looking forward to warmer drier weather next year.. till then drive safely..

Thanks Gary and Jo for the last run of 2010 and my last outing in the Turbo. Yes it was pretty foggy on the return trip. Swap to the new GT3 tomorrow - currently have mixed feelings, the TT is such a superb all round capable car with such awesome power. But now looking forward to the new car, with several track days and trips planned. I'm sure I'll be happy particularly with the exhaust note which I've missed since my C4S[:D] Happy New Year to one and all. Regards.

997 TT Cobalt Blue - goes tomorrow
997 GT3 Carrera White - arrives tomorrow
Cayenne Diesel Gen 2 - Meteor Grey
