I seriously considered buying a 991 before buying my Turbo in November last year. However, the reasons I didn't were power and looks:
1) The appearance of the 991 really doesn't grab me.
2) The looks of the 997.1/.2 Turbo have always grabbed me. And still do. Every time I walk back from parking it anywhere - even in the garage - I glance back over my shoulder to see it. And there is sits, looking mean and menacing. And I love that about it. The 991 - currently - doesn't do a heck of a lot for me in the visual department, and I can honestly say it's the first Porsche EVER that I have thought that about. Hopefully the 991 Turbo will look a bit more aggressive.
3) Power. Honestly, I don't care if the 991 or the latest Nissanitusubushi is 0.1 second quicker round the ring. It won't go like the Turbo goes. And there is nothing can beat that imo.
4) On a seperate note, my Nissan quote above reminds me of this that I saw the other day []
