New Boxster Member coming soon ...

Yep Chris, absolutely mortified ... Im just fed up with this whole selling thing - couldnt do sales thats for sure ...

Just annoyed more than anything - if he had any type of doubt (which he certainly didnt mention) why not just say Ive got a few more to look at or make some stupid excuse ... why bother getting my hopes up? Arghhh stupid man! Breath ... []

It's not over til the fat lady sings V. He may just be having trouble getting his bank to transfer money etc etc. Either way, don't give up on the sale. Have you tried webuyanycar.com to sell yours? Sure they will not give as good a price as you hoped, but it may shift it?

Fingers crossed.

And even if it doesnt sell, stay on here (or join us in the chat room so as to avoid getting your fingers rapped for "non porsche chat" [8|]).

Ah, thanks chic [:D]

Well that's what he was doing ... ringing me to get the bank details ... he was going to transfer money and then Im over in Leeds for a staff meeting Thursday so he was going to pick it up from there ... just dont see why he'd bother with arranging everything then not even getting in touch ...

Hopefully he got back over the moors ok from mine ... was really foggy when he left ....... [:-]

Well looks like I wont by joining you all any time soon - been completely let down (yet again) [&o]

The guy came last night to look at mine (from Leeds), absolutely loved it ... agreed a price, agreed a date to pick it up and said I'll ring you at 8am tomorrow to get your details and I'll arrange for the money to be transfered ... nearly 2pm and nothing ... zilch ... bugger all ... tried to ring him but just rang out then went to answering machine ... []

Sorry to hear about your current problems with selling your car, it really is a total pain when people let you down.

Did you get a deposit off this guy when he viewed the car? I know that when we sold our AH the guy that was buying it came down to see it, left a deposit and said he'd be in touch about picking the car up soon and it was over a week later before we heard anything, seems he had been away on holiday! We had no contact details for him and it was only because he had left us a deposit that we concluded that he was genuinely interested.

The key to private sales is in getting a significant deposit - £500+ A truly committed buyer will provide the deposit.

Not helpful I know - sorry to hear your frustrating experience.

500 GBP ??? If I may be so bold its all relative, My deposit on the RS6 was 10% .. ie 8K and I walked away from that for 5 months and was willing to leave it permanently as the alternative was find the other 90% ... Luckily personal circumstances changed again

I'm assuming that deposit was handed to a main dealer?

My point is that it needs to be more than a token amount (i.e not an amount that the buyer would walk away from if he changed his mind post-'sale'), but it's up to the buyer and seller to agree what is reasonable. If I was the seller I would be pushing it as high as possible. If I was the buyer I would be pushing it as low as possible.

FWIW, the deposit on my used 986 from Silverstone OPC was £2k.
