Agree with the last two posts. Great to see such a fabulous and rare car in the hands of an enthusiast who will look after it properly.

Blimey, that's smokin' hot[8D]. Gotta say I agree with Martin, if I'd just dragged my ass all the way to Germany to pick that beauty up I'd be getting the correct lamps and not taping the existing ones. Personal choice tho eh (but then I've just replaced both window switch cards as the driver's door card broke, and the replacement was a different shade of black to the existing passenger side. Yes. I know, but it bugged me at the time and it was only ÂŁ12 from OPC Chester).

Hope he's not away for too long, love to see some more pics.

It was aimed at you but I added smileys, it was purely tongue in cheek. But sorry if you took it differently. I also have an S2 Btw.

No worries, I just read it wrong so thanks.

Martin, no-one was criticising your choice of changing the lights, and you come across as the opposite of arrogant. I think I, and the other replies, were just picking up the fact that it's not an MOT requirement. No reason to take offence, please keep the updates coming. [&o]

Sad to say I'm almost more interested in the pic of the SD1! I still think it's a great looking car....

Martin, that's a mega addition to the 944 population on the forum. [:)][:)]

I think we are all waiting with bated breath to hear more details of it and the turbo cup series cars generally. There is not a great deal of info on them that I am aware of, unlike the 964RS carrera cup cars. Yet they were the original cup series car.

I expect there is a whole race history associated with it too. [8D]

It is always interesting to understand the quirks of an alternative car made by a company. It often gives a good insight into their thinking at the time and sometimes pointers to developments that would ultimately make their way onto a broader range of cars (or not!)

This car must be fairly unique too in being both an ex race car and currently road legal. Maybe that gives us an insight into the way the Cup series was devised and run or an insight into my ignorance [8|]

Cheers
Mick

Martin I had a look at work and found you some "genuine" Porsche headlight beam deflector tape [;)]

Note to admin :- by allowing users to delete/edit their own posts AFTER they have made a conscious decision to make their original statements / observations is wrong

In "real life" if somebody says something that they then regret saying then something called an apology is the civilised method of retraction and not just delete and deny saying it !

It's not currently road legal - I think that there's some sort of issue with the headlights apparently . . .

I may be wrong but tape will not be acceptable for MoT or permanent registration of LHD for UK use. Now lets park this headlight debacle and concentrate on a stunning car !! [;)]

Still waiting for interior and engine pics please!!

If a vehicle is presented for an MOT with "beam deflectors" fitted then it is a Pass and advise and not an RFR (Reason for Refusal)

The above of course is relevant if the headlight beam/height is set within UK spec

Perhaps we should get back on topic now. I seem to have inadvertently buggered up Martin's thread, for which I apologise.

I'm thinking that Martin might just have the best two-car collection of 944's of anyone. I'd love either/both. Let's hope that at least one comes out of hibernation in time for Rutland next year.

As for the lights on the new addition, will this car see the light of day, let alone the dark of night?! I certainly hope so.
