Bout ye's

Just registered.... 31, from northern Ireland.

Whilst working abroad and hearing of a slightly worse for wear 944 identical to one my best mate just bought, we thought it would be a right giggle if I snapped it up and sorted it for us to go through the 944 experience together.

I went for a 1989 944 2.7 in Black with ivory half leather.

It has had a light frontal and is in the process of being repaired.

It landed home courtesy of my friend on Monday, got sent to another friend's to start on the repairs last night whilst I'm still abroad working and only able to scour the internet for ideas and parts.

Few pics to set the pace....

Welcome, was that the one on the FB group?

Paul Woolard should sort you with the parts, or try Justin Webb or Elliot Newman. Keep us posted!

In the garage stripped and straightened ready for parts before detailing and service

Yes Paul, hello!

Aye I ordered what I'm hoping is all it needs from Justin as he had the right color etc...

I have a set of springs and am told the rear is just torsion so can be adjusted to lower the rear to match?
I'm after clear indicators and light inserts and also a cheapish set of nicer wheels.

Any advice on servicing parts like oil filter and plugs etc?

Did these ever come with an Lsd? Typical N.Ireland question lol

Can't wait to get home and see what I'm working with!

Here's what I'm hoping it'll look like when sorted (minus the turbo particulars except rear apron)...

Nice and welcome.
I can sort you out with clear front indicators and side repeaters. Just took some off a car and replaced with ambers today actually!

If that is the look you are after, a set of aftermarket/replica Fuchs will do the job and will look awesome. like these..

Or you could refurb a set of D90's in black.. like this..

LOVE those fuchs!!! seen them on ebay there and it says you can state what et and width you would like as they make them to order!? Wonder what the max i can get away with by narrowing the tire width by 10mm...

Yes i would love the clear indicators etc... Much would i be talking?

Just cover postage.. pm me your details. I only have the side repeaters, the fronts I have are for S2/turbo.. but you are welcome to the sides..

Hi Laurence, always good to see another one being saved.....good luck with project. The black turbo used to belong to 'Bennyboy' who was a regular poster on here. I actually made the clear rear indicator lenses and also make the fronts for the n/a models. I have a set of fronts and rears on eBay at the moment, but can offer you a better price if you want to P.M me.

Don't waste your time asking about the copy 17" Fuchs on EBay, although it says other ET etc available their reply is short and to the point, NO, I asked last week.

The only option for fitting Fuch to a late offset 944 is new genuine forged Fuch wheels so budget for £2500 with tyres.

image Wheels do a billet wheel in a Fuchs type design, machined to your diameter and ET, I asked about 15" with the correct ET, wheels alone would be £2500 before tyres.

Image also do a black centred 5 spoke with a polished rim but has cap heads around the rim, they are cheaper but not similar to Fuchs

Not an awful lot done, my mate fitted some front springs the other night, and we had the whole car rubbed down with 2000grit and then buffed with a mild compound... next up will be cleaning all the gutters and trim, then it'll be a few layers of polish before bringing out the HD wax for a few coats too!

I ordered boot struts, full mat set including boot mat, Mann oil filter and received my new key and keyring

Anyone know what the best method of lowering the rear via torsion bar to balance that of the 30mm springs?

Anyway, few pics...
