Hi Folks,

We go and get our first ever 944S2 on Monday. [:D]

This is our first time as Porsche owners.

Do you guys have any top tips you could pass on?

Thanks.

PS The garage is getting cleared out this weekend. []

Congratulations lThom [:D] If you look after it you'll get years of enjoyment in return. Was it the one from Strasse in the end?

My only advice now that you have bought is just to get out and drive the thing. These cars behave so much better when used regularly and not locked away in a garage. Don't forget to post lots of pics when you get it and when you spot any little niggly things you know where to ask [;)]

[:D] Echo what everybody has said, simply great cars that bring a real smile to your face.

Enjoy
Chris

Enjoy the car, but hide your credit card - even if there is nothing wrong with the car doesn't mean you won't want to spend thousands on it...

If the cam chain tensioner has not been inspected / replaced recently it is worth getting that checked. Otherwise enjoy!
Tony

I have 5 kids who live down my street who think my S2 is a Ferrari! So theres something to get used to.
Oh check right hand enigine mount if you get vibration and knocking coming through.

Enjoy the summer[:)]

Thanks folks.

We're busy sorting out Insurance, Tesco's came out best.

The car had a full service at Strasse in Feb and the belts were checked then.

Will post photo's when we get them.

Does anyone know if the Porsche Alarm system that comes with the S2 complies with the Thatcham 1 standard?

Thanks.

Thanks.
When I bought my car the Porsche alarm and immobiliser that was fitted was Thatcham 2 according to the certificate and as the Insurance Co insisted on Thatcham 1 a new system had to be fitted.
It might be cost effective to check this out at an OPC though.

Yes,

The insurance companies are insisting its CAT 1.

Just having a quick look on the Web and the local independents are pricing it at £400. []

I would recommend investing in a CAT1 alarm as the payback would be realised pretty quickly as the savings in insurance are quite dramatic.
An example of this is my wife had a Clifford 300 fitted to her car and reduced the premium by £450 straight away.

Also - welcome to the throng!

I'm with Liverpool Victoria for the specific reason they didn't care about extra security on the Impreza I had at the time (everyone else wanted a Tracker fitted). They were competitive with the 944 and don't care about security on that either. I have to renew in early July so we'll see what happens then, but I consider alarms a major PITA and I'd sooner not have one even before the cost of fitting is added in.

Thanks Fen, I've just called Liverpool Victoria and they were Brilliant!!!! In fact we've saved £300, they didn't need to know about any security, was offered unlimited mileage and free cover in any EU country, courtesy car, guaranteed no claims...need I go on...I spent 3 hours on the phone last night, just wish I'd called them first. I'd thoroughly recommend them to everyone and am insuring our other cars with them too!
