The two respondents above are correct about #1.

I was doing some "100%" off-road climbs / descents in a RangeRover Sport the other weekend.

LandRover's Hill Descent system is some form of voodoo magic. Hugely impressive. [8D]

it's got non genuine locking wheel nuts. i'll weigh them when i service it. pics;

15 - my steering wheel vibrates above 60mph, is this likly to be wheel balanceing, or a steering colume bush?

ta. :)

Mine did that recently - inside edge of both front tyres shot to bits ie no rubber never mind tread!!!! I had a lot of play in one damper body and discovered diffirent struts on each side one large diameter spring one small, (mines an S2) ÂŁ1200 later its all as new

Inserts for 2.5 and 2.7 cars can be had for ÂŁ120 each The rest (turbo or S2) seem to require full struts cheapest I could find (Sachs) ÂŁ259 + vat each
Spriings from Porsche ÂŁ139 + vat

Hello,

I too am a brand new S2 owner.
Picked mine up last Thursday
I had to laugh at your post regarding the sunroof. Going home on the motorway, mine was flapping all over the place so much so that I had to open it. I thought he had sold me a dud!
But actually. The retracting things that hold the sunroof down should not be retracted right back as this is for complete removal. Press the open button very slightly and they will come out and hold it down!

There are various manuals that show how to remove the instrument panel. You need to first remove the steering wheel. I aim to do this at the weekend as my dash does not light up very well.
Unfortunately there is conflicting information of the socket size I need to remove the retaining nut on my S2. 28 or 27mm seems to be the general size!

thanks for the tip about the sunroof,,was about to go and have a fiddle to work out why it wasnt shutting properly but i wont now haha...dont think ill bother to much about the light till youve had a go and can advise how hard it is,,,i am not really a spanners person but ill have a go at the easier things...good luck....im off to show off now..haha

Hi to both of you!
On the '84 car you should be able to reach up under the dash and push the l/h pod out, and change the bulb, but sometimes the wires get tangled.
Its a 24mm nut on the early steering wheel (the horn pad just pulls off) and there are 2 screws holding the dash in - top of the 2 side pods, but you will probably have to take the ignition lock covers too.
Good luck with your cars

Nice looking 944 (someone will be along to fix the image links shortly.........) - sure you won't regret it, although you may go grey a little more prematurely (assuming you're not already !).

As you have already found out, we have some very useful people on the forum, so don't be afraid to ask, but do expect the odd sarcastic comment [:)]

Welcome. Im going to guess that the car is actually a 1986 (model year, built from September 1985)) as it has electric height adjustment seats? I think that '86 944s are the prettiest.

Yeah its an oval dash model i quite like the look of the square dash but i couldnt find many in the same condition
And im only 22 so i dont want to be grey any time soon.
Its definately going to make me poor though.

I like Alpine White cars, Ive had three of them![:D]

My initial thoughts are that the interior looks clean, but its been re-trimmed; that it probably has aftermerket wheels (although they could be genuine wheels using large spacers) and that the sill covers make me apprehensive about the state of its sills.

Also: theyre Neils initials.

Simon

The sills were a concern but i looked them over and there are receipts for work being carried out recently.
And i think the wheels are genuine with spacers what stamps do porsche put on there wheels?

Id suggest PH Sportscars in Shardlow for any work that needs doing, seeing as youre only in BoT. Paul is the proprietor and the garage is run by Simon who is a factory trained tech. 01332 799298 - theres actually a better number for the garage, although I dont know it off the top of my head. Theyre in the old British Waterways yard in Cavendish Bridge.

Cheers for that do you have to embed it or something i normally copy an img code from photo bucket?

Click 'quote' on my post and youll see how the syntax differs. You need not [img] and Ive deleted part of the link.

If the wheels are genuine theyll have a Porsche part number stamped inside and the width in inches and the offset in mm alongside the valve.

Simon

Cheers for the heads up i plan to do most work myself, as i used to work for denis welch motorsport i have a fair bit of classic experience but if any big jobs i cant tackle need doing il give them a shout.
