New to Porsche, the forum so hi

If Porscheshop is close by then so are www.twoplustwoltd.co.uk in Brierley Hill. They've worked on my Lux engine but usually have a busy workload so you may have to wait before they can see you. That in itself is a good recommendation.

I have just rang 2+2 and got some prices for jobs i want doing, Spoke to a man called "Dave" lol (never see a bloke called Dave working in a garage do you) Very helpful, good knowledge and very competative too. I have a feeling he will be getting some work soon.
 
Don't know where you are geographically, but I can recommend PCT in Coventry, attached to Autobahn.

That's funny, the senior mechanic who always worked on my car when I used JZ Machtech was Dave [:D]
 
I actually had a Volvo 850T5 as my 1st it was chipped can't remember what the power output was though and it had the 850R exhaust on it to sound quite nice and was fairly quick but I got a little bored with it after a while do miss it a little though and I would definatly get another fast volvo but wouldn't get one instead of a porsche
 
I have tuned them beyond 340bhp on stock internals from 225 bhp. They tune very well, although the later models have been fettled by ford and are poor in comparison. They are a fun car for little money.

I think the same can be said for the 944s as well really

With my Volvo on some decent roads it was good fun and pulling upto the lights next to some boy racer and thrashing them soundly in a volvo would have to be more embarrasing than being beaten by a porsche when you think about it the looks on their little faces was usually quite humourous anyway
 
Lol, its when you came up against a non turbo Porsche on a rolling start, he see's you in his rear view and decides to teach the old codger in the Volvo a lesson, clogs it, then looks in his rear view to see the codger car still with him and not falling back that was the best fun.
 
never really got the opertunity to go against a Porsche but they are fairly quick although I don't think my Volvo was as quick as my S2 I still rate my S2 as the best car I've ever driven and I've driven a lot of interesting cars recently I think it's easily up there with the 996 turbo and Quattroporte

HA! - I had just that same experience, I wondered why he wasn't becoming a speck in the rear view mirror after gunning it down a slip road. I found out it was an R70 (estate) when he went past me on the M4 in the average speed limit section.
 
850 93-97 and S/V/C70 series cars can hike from 225/240 to 304/310bhp respectively for £400 in the shape of a 20 minute ecu remap off the shelf. 400ft lbs of torque too so mid range they are devastatingly quick. Off the mark they are terrible due to the front wheel drive. Wizard you are not alone, i have shamed many proper cars whilst driving a T5, and like the 944, alot of go for the money :)
 
Fast Volvo's are like fast Saab's, although for me moving on to Volvo from Saab would be a tough call. I have a very slightly tuned 9-5 daily driver (215 Bhp 260 lb/ft) but as is the way the old 9000 was much cheaper and easier to tune to big numbers. My 9-5 would need race cat, 3" down pipe and bigger injectors to get to 240 Bhp and a different turbo to get to 280+(ditch Garret GT17 for either a Mitsu TD04 or a ball bearing Garret joby). Still though the increase to where it is now from a stock 150 was only 20 minutes flashing in the new program via the OBD port.

People that don't understand the attraction of these cars don't understand how satisfying it is blasting up the road in 3 grands worth of sofa on wheels saloon, and yes wild torque steer can be perversely enjoyable.
 
before buying the Porsche I was thinking of getting a 2004 V70R they are brilliant cars and 4 wheel drive I believe too and they're already down to under £14k

Wish i hadnt really, i bought another S60 but diesel, i hate it. The petrol head in me is screaming hence the Porsche.

Tuned this to 436bhp, neck snapping acceleration, but it was painful to drive and was definately going to loose my license for me, plus it had a 5k gearbox rebuild under warranty and spent more time in the garage than the road, so it went too.

Before that i ran many Volvo's inc

Hmmm. Have always had a secret respect for those last two posted ... liked the shape, and particularly liked the look with the dark green one, and the flat, five-spoke dark alloys.

Of course, I couldn't admit to this on a Porsche forum, could I!

I drove someones V70R that was putting out 480BHP but they had uprated a lot of other things to so seemed to be quite reliable and madly fast I loved it absoloutly amazing car (still would rather have me Porsche though [;)])

Lets put it like this, tuned swedish cars and Porsche are like polar opposites. In the Saab you could drive around naked and no one would notice. In the Porsche it feels like everyone is looking at you. Its the same opposites when you push the cars hard. The Porsche just gets better and better and can reach a point of pure driving nirvana (like when I was drifting out of the tight corners on the Haynes test track). The Saab 9-5 on aero suspension or better feels surprisingly good up to 95% but then becomes a bucking bronco mess of a thing if you get it onto its limits. It is brilliant as a long distance A-B car and quite possibly the worst basis for a track car possible, again complete opposite to Porsche's which are perfectly comfortable as long as you don't have to drive to far and of course are a brilliant starting point for a track car.

I wish I hadn't tuned me 9-5 sometimes because now it is giving me a feeling for boost again that the S2 doesn't have,,,,,,must resist!!
