is it just me or does your post make no sense?

You did have an inspection booked... but you have been let down?! how so?

It does seem strange,, as you know I was also looking at a car in Coventry, the inspection was booked for either one of the cars depending on which one was purchased now the inspection guy is saying that the one in Harbour cars isn't in his area, which is disappointing, hey maybe it's my fault

Use porsche Portsmouth. Harbour can get the car to them for an inspection. PP are very good.

they are an OPC and they will do a 111 point check for around £180+VAT. its the same check an OPC does before they will warrant a car. so if it passes they are willing to stand behind it.

some will say that its not as good as a thorough inspection but they stand by theirs... most inspection reports do not. you can also ask the OPC to report on minor condition bits and to advise if any work should be done pre-purchase.

You will not be able to get the 111 point check from a PC until you have owned the vehicle for at least 90 days. However, the last owner may be able to help.

Clive

I'm not sure I'd rely on the 111 point inspection for buying a car....

You can get the check, you cant get the warranty until you have owned it for 90 days.

i would expect the check to highlight any issues which need attention, leaks, etc. worn bits etc.

Thanks for your help guys I will get on the case in the morning... At Harbour Cars you get a decent warranty and also an 111 point check, I wonder if it is the same as the Porsche one? I have loads of paper work documenting what has been done to the car through it's life, it's only ever been in Rev range 1 for 481 ignitions in all its life and engine running time for 1998.05 @49139 miles, I've been told you can work out the average speed with these figures,, but I'm know where near that clever any help would be appreciated, I know autotechnics are next door would they do a PPI ?

I think I remember hearing that autotechnics do the harbour cars servicing. Maybe not impartial if true.

you could agree with harbour that you will get it checked over after delivery with your local Indy of choice and any required work will be paid for by harbour. If they are confident in the car they will agree. If they are not...

Thanks Rodney, would that indicate that the car has not been thrashed to much ? So one would think been treated well
Thanks again.

I think it indicates an urban life or a short-run commuter life.

I live in the sticks and do do lots of 6 mile school runs and short trips in my area and my ave speed in my daily is the same.

My turbo is about 20mph ave but it lived a city life for some of its early years. So averaging a crawl is typical.

Good point Jcx that would tally the milage for the first 4 years of this cars life which was quite low .

Wise to have an inspection.

That said, I followed my astonishing ' fallen in love nature ' and as a consequence bought without inspection [:)] and not for a moment have I regretted doing so.
Harbour Cars do have a good name. If a 911 that took my eye was available from them, then I would trust them enough to buy it and shake hands.

Thanks for the help/advice, called Phil Raby, he is a really helpful guy,he put me in touch with an inspection firm so pre purchase inspection for Thursday.
So all good.
