Hello all

Just joined so thought i' d say a quick hello " HELLO"
Lookin forward to chatin to you all.

Paul

Hi Paul welcome to the forum [:D]

Have you taken a look at our online polls yet? Try and add your vote if you have any thoughts on any of them. I think I' ll dream up a new one soon.

I notice you have a BBR chip in your S2. Did you have it installed and can you tell the difference? I am in another 944 forum at www.titanic.co.uk/944 and the S2 owners there have been discussing a group buy for a rechip and rolling road setup, so your experience will be useful.

Cheers

Welcome to the forum Paul.

I have no doubt you will have plenty of fun.

I would echo Paul' s comments regarding Titanic, but don' t forget to post in the PCGB forum as well.

Will we see you on Saturday at Brooklands?

Good job Paul Smith calls himself Diver, cos we are being overrun by Pauls!!

Is this an invasion of the Pauls, exterminate, exterminate

" where am I?"

" been having another nightmare, and we were being invaded by the Daleks and they were all called Paul"

We are not all mad here Paul, just some of us, ha ha ha

Welcome to the madhouse, I mean the 944 Forum.

Regards

Phil

Phil,

That' s great, you realy are going to encourage new Paul to join in 944 Register events if he thinks we are mad.

When I take my brain out at night I' ve been finding the glass I used to use is getting a bit small. Should I go for a bigger glass or just carve some of the nobbly bits off from around the edges and carry on with my original tumbler?

Should I ...just carve some of the nobbly bits off from around the edges

We thought you already had!

We thought you already had!

You see the problem is Mark, now that you have met me you feel you don' t have to be afraid of me, but Farnborough is only so big!

Shame - with all the smileys available there doesn' t seem to be one with wild staring psychopathic eyes. Why would that be then?

Oh you are going to be sooooo busted [][][]

Notice how Paul has not come back in here now [8|]

You don' t have to be mad to be on here, but it helps and Paul Smith will no doubt confirm, I am, therefore I am!!

And if you can' t have a laugh with yourself, then who can you?? Perhaps it has something to do with the fact I work in a comedy club????

Well there you go.

Hi all

Thanx for the welcome

notice you have a BBR chip in your S2. Did you have it installed and can you tell the difference? I am in another 944 forum at www.titanic.co.uk/944 and the S2 owners there have been discussing a group buy for a rechip and rolling road setup, so your experience will be useful.

I fitted the chip my self and think there is a difference mainly in mid range acceleration 3rd gear (always my fave) is even better now something i didn' t think was possible!.

Is there any one local to me i' m in chichester I have seen a couple of 944' s driving in the area also any one heading for FOS think i' ll go on the sunday only a 5 min drive for me.

see ya paul

Well done Paul. You passed the first test!

i.e.

Test 1.
Establish that the majority of the club members are nut cases and demonstate a tollerance of their short commings. You will fit in a treat.

any one heading for FOS

We are going on Friday.

I have a chip from www.auto-amd.co.uk which was dyno' d at 285bhp and the difference was immediately noticeable [:D] It' s funny you mentioned 3rd gear because this is a little test I conducted just to see if it was more than ' seat of the pants' imaginary power gain:

In 3rd gear I started at 30mph then floored it all the way up to 90mph on my private test track [;)] and timed how long it took with a stopwatch. Three consecutive runs took 8 seconds with the standard chips. Three further runs with the AMD chips each took 7 seconds. Admittedly a fairly ' rough and ready' unofficial test but it proved the chips had done what they promised. [:)]

lol im well used to spending all my money on my motors haha.
Had two concours winning VAGE cars already and want this one to be the same lol just need to get the contacts to get the parts.

I am looking to get a stainless tubular manifold to start with and lowering springs, and a throttle response cam if available for the 2.5 16v

well, you have a wealth of choice to start with! there's just a few links below, and by no means is this comprehensive! Do a search on the forum as to each reputation, some of them haven't been impressive, and some are quite pricey, but personally, I've not had a problem ordering from anyone!

I've not heard of a stainless manifold available in the UK as of yet (someone wil no doubt tell me I'm wrong!), but I know they're available from the states in the "second" list. SFR are quite highly reccomended apparently, and you'll pay for them too!

Welcome to the forum Jamie, the first thing to do is to post somepics of your new toy [:)]

The second thing is to check if the camshaft CHAIN and tensioner have been replaced recently. The 16v 944s have a chain between the two camshafts as well as the normal rubber cam and balance belts that everyone knows about.

This chain was never on any official Porsche maintenace plan so a lot of 16 valvers have met an earlt grave when this chain snaps or stretches causing untold damage to your head, valves and even pistons []

Costs just a few hundred for peace of mind, compared with thosands if it snaps!

Thirdly, you can now start adding shiny modifications [:D]

I will get some pics up whenever i can get my camera working lol.

When i got the car it had all the belts and chain replaced 2000 lmiles before. So everything is in order (touch wood).

I am getting a set of Porsche Cup wheels tomorrow to trial fit, they are HUGE at the rear does anyone know what the limit the 944 can take under the quarter panel width wise?

I cant wait to start spending money on it haha, the wife thinks she can find more useful things to spend money on but women, what do they know hahahaha

I've got 18x10's on the rear of mine, but apparently it is possible to get 11's under there! It all depends on the offsets (of which there are very many permutations!)
