Newbie

Hi Jamie
Nice to see someone else here from NI.
I've had my944 for a couple of months now and yes, they are great fun to drive, especially on our nice open twisty roads with no traffic and no cameras (just to make the english boys jealous! [:D])
Steve

what sort of wheels do you have Pikey?

are there many lads from the auld north of ireland on here?

Do you guys have any meetings or anything?

im getting 911 cup 3's prob same offset as yours so hopefully no bother. They are 10x18 on rear too, hard to light those wheels up i would say haha

I've got 10x18's on the back with my road tyres. When it's wet it's pretty safe to say they won't spin in 4th and 5th.

ORIGINAL: j16jrf

I am looking to get a stainless tubular manifold to start with and lowering springs, and a throttle response cam if available for the 2.5 16v

Welcome Jamie. Your car already has the more resposnive throttle cam, it was standard on the S. There are plenty other upgrades though [;)]

need help badly.

Got the wheels today and need one rear tyre. Size is 295/40/18 and has to be michelin to match the other one.

Cheapest quote i have had so far is £320 BLOODY HELL, does anyone know where i can get them any cheaper?

Thanks
Jamie

I wouldn't bother. I SERIOUSLY doubt a 295/40/18 will fit and if it does it's not the right rolling radius. As a guide I run 265/35/18 on the back of mine so 5% higher aspect ratio and 30mm wide tread is a LOT bigger. I know some people run 285's but I think they use 30 aspect ratio tyres.

I gotta go with Fen here, a 295/40 is waaaaaaaaaaay too tall. out of curiosity, what size are the fronts if the rears are that big?

BTW, 265/35 p-zeros are around £180 (web quotes)......

WHAT? a guy in an n/a is trying to beat us turbo boys? not gonna happen! i'm off to get some truck tyres and a plasma cutter tomorrow! [:D]

On the car the 295's fit perfectly no rubbing at all. sorry they are 295 30's, they fill the arches nicely haha. may kill a bit of the performance but hey speed isnt everything haha YEAH RIGHT.

Pirelli P zero's for that sort of money is hardly bad, i will have to change the fronts to pirelli too then i think.

The front tyres are 225/40/18 again no rubbing or buffing even on full lock

Do 265 fit on the 10x18 then? they are not too narrow?

265's are fine. think of it this way: 265mm/25.4=10.43" a 295 is actually 11.6" wide, so how it fits I've no idea! Im pretty close to the edge of my arch, and I had to tie the handbrake cables up out of the way on the trailing arm. [&:]

I take it you have Michelin Sports? www.blackcircles.com is usually a pretty good gauge on prices, and they have the Michelins at £320, but P-zero's at £179. OK, the pirellis are Y rated vs the Michelins Z, but at that price.....Of course it's always better to get a matching axle pair too....... []

so would you guys recommend any particular tyres? stick with the michelin or change for something different.

Anyone got any experience of different tyre types on their porsche?

Do you prefer Coke or Pepsi? [:D]

personally if I had a choice of a £320 michelin, or a £180 Pirelli, then I wouldn't need to think too hard!

There's a few different opinions on tyres on here. I couldn't say anyone was wrong. Personally, I'm happy with my p-zero assymetricos, and will be getting a new pair soon.

They must be down to the canvas Mike, you cried off the Silverstone track evening in Aug because you needed rear covers as I recall [8D]

true haha buy two pirelli pzero's for the price of one michelin.

I will get them ordered and get the wheels on then maybe een get some pics up on here.

So onto the tuning what should i do first to get this 200mph challenge started HAHAHAHA
