No Bridgestones

Those supplied to me are N0- as on my car already... so didn't worry any more than that. More happy to have the rubber on the car... garyw

Just a quick update for this thread. I've been looking for new tyres for my C4S and it seems that the rear tyres (Michelin 305/30/19) are on back order with delivery in 6 weeks+. As I desperately need to replace all 4 tyres, I've therefore gone with the Bridgestones which the OPC could obtain for me later this week. They could also get Pirellis within similar timescales, but general concensus on this and other forums was that Bridgestones were the favoured choice (although given a free choice I would probably have retained the Michelins which i have done 30,000 miles on 2 sets previously). OPC quotes were £1,050 for the Bridgestones and £1,000 for the Pirellis (after PCGB discount) I'm not sure whether the Bridgestones are the N0 or N1 versions (i think it is likely to be the N0 versions), but as I'm having all 4 tyres replaced i don't mind which, as long as they are all the same. I will update the thread at the weekend after the tyres have been fitted! My local tyre dealer could have obtained and fitted the Bridgestones cheaper, but i decided that the OPC route was likely to be less hassle as far as the TPM etc was concerned. Also maintaining a good relationship with the OPC is also useful when it comes to potential future warranty issues! cheers Sidicks

I think so unless you have a reliable, trustworthy and careful tyre centre - which I have. They also have N2[:)]

It is best. If you have a trusted tyre fitter then it should be fine, but avoid the gash-hand with a worn out tyre changing post and dirty floors like the plague - you may save a few quid and end up with loads of damage. [:(] Having said that, in my 30 years of (previous) Porsche ownership, I've never purchased tyres from an OPC. I have used a couple of lads who I trust and know will look after my car. However, some OPC's are now more market-savvy and will supply boots at a more competitive price nowadays, so it definitely pays to give them a try first. Incidentally, Pirelli will now only supply higher level Ferrari tyres to main dealers. [:'(] Regards, Clive

I just got a couple of Bridgestones fitted by my local fitter and whilst their price was cheapest, £40 per tyre less than OPC, they have left some damage where they tried to remove the old weights, small scratch marks. But, I have used them for over 20 years and never had any problems in the past. Regarding the sticky pads that keep the balancing weights on, any advice for removing the remaining bits of glue? I am a little hesitant to try white spirit in case it damages the laquer.

Hi Guys, Not sure where you all live, but I have always used Micheldever Tyres (Just North of Winchester in Hampshire SO21 3AP 01962 774 437). These guys have always been careful with my wheels and have a great burger van whilst you wait. They have never "not had" my Bridgestone's even around a year ago when there was another "shortage" and they are the goto guys arond this area. My last all four change was around £850 all in. Cheers Paul

Paul Ring them this week....[;)] they haven't got any...[:'(] (fronts this time) I spoke to another of their depots today, however I'll ring them direct tomorrow.. garyw

Wow, that really surprises me. There really must be a shortage. Glad I don't need any right now. Still major service tomorrow, so any donations gratefully accepted. Cheers Paul

They've got no Michelins either (305), been waiting nearly six weeks now. Personally, I think this situation is crazy with the tyre manufacturers, this is their core business - I expect they are shipping more tyres to China these days!

Well they arrived whilst I was there waiting.. It was strange that some said no stock yet Protyre actually bothered to try and get some for me.. transported in from Europe. The good news is that this time they honored the club discount and fitted the tyres spot on [:)] So thats this years club membership saved already. Car looks great after cleaning the mud off from last weekend, it had set on quite well [&:] garyw

Doug The brakes had covered 32K and the pads were worn and the discs marked. I had small cracks around the holes but certainly nothing I was concerned about- they also needed all cleaning out. Totally transformed how I feel about the car, I was worrying about overheating the brakes and when I do use them I tend to be quite hard on them [:(] New tyres now all round [8D] 4 year service and plugs in November. Oh! and warranty renewal [:(] However after a great drive out last weekend, I'm once again looking at a good blast to enjoy the car again [8D] garyw

If your rotors are within tolerance they should be fine - even with small radial stress fracturing around the drill holes, but if you're worried then get them changed -it won't do any harm (apart from your bank balance, that is!). [&:] Regards, Clive
