Nicola,
Whats the eating arrangements for tomorrow lunch etc. Are we eating at Portmeirion or on route?
Cheers,

Just read David baker's email - Portmeirion for lunch (and snowball fight!)

There is a restaurant and cafe at Portmeirion Fred, we ate there last time, nothing formal ;)
See you tomorrow.
Alan.

Hi folks,

I'm a new member (No 48765) and I've been following this correspondence with interest and intended to join you all.

However, its 8.15 a.m. on Sunday and some of you may have already set off. But have you seen the weather? There's about 3" of snow here on the Wirral which is unheard of! I suspect the route to Portmeirion will be undriveable.for all but our 4-wheel drive brothers.

I'll attempt to turn up at Cheshire Oaks anyway.

Cheers Iain. Next time perhaps,

3 inches here too - the kids want to go snowboarding... I'm trying to coerce them to go to Cheshire Oaks and we can make a decision from there. So I suggest we continue as per plan and meet up at Chester OPC to decide. Worst case scenario at least we can have an ogle at the cars and maybe go for a brew. No snow in Porthmadog according to BBC weather though and main road here at clear.

There is snow here on the Fylde Coast! It normally melts before it hits the ground.
Didn't look out of the window until I had had a shower etc. "Wassat white stuff?"
Thought about using the Cherokee but TV Weather on Ceefax not good so chickened out I'm afraid.
Cheers

Good call Fred :)
Cars covered in snow.

Pulled the cover off the 924S, fulled her up, set off on M6 south 50 MPH speed limit, road not too bad improved by the time we got to Leeds/Liverpool canal bridge, M56 didn't seem too bad until we got a bout 5 miles from M53, horizontal snow, M53 really bad, actually made it to Cheshire Oaks about 10am, but headed straight back for fear of M53 closing!, saw a purple(?) 964 or 993 heading towards Chester on the M56 not far from the junction with M6 while driving back. We'll rearrange it, either see here or PP. Props to those who gave it a try! ps/ Thanks for calling Chris.

I couldn't even get the boxster out of the drive (it involves a reverse up a long hill) in the foot deep snow drifts around the house, so turned up at Chester OPC in the X-Trail (now that was fun!) to meet Chris, Nichola and a few other die-hards and enjoy a coffee. It was wisely decided to abandon the drive.

Disappointing, but next time perhaps - or see you all on a club night.

Alan,
The purple 993 could have been David Baker. I know that he and Barry Smith (don't know who else) were going to go to Cheshire Oaks.(barry phoned me from Charnock Richard Services to see where I was). I see from Critch's post that it was abandoned. Sounds like a good run out so hopefully it will be re-arranged for later on in the year (possibly Autumn when it shouldn't be so busy).
Try again Nicola please.
Cheers,

There can't be many purple 993's around , so yes it was I on the M6, with
Barry, Frank Archer and Albert Walsh and we made it to Chester OPC.

Look forward to the re-arranged run alter in the year

Thanks for the pic Tom - Hardcore! Didn't anyone suggest the OPC lend everyone Cayenne's for the day, what with the new Club/Cars co-operation and all that [;)]
