Looks a really nice car but had a feeling this would happen [&o]

Story sounds like complete BS and just another way of getting round not putting a reserve on and it back firing.

Hope you get all your money back ok and you find another Rick. There are quite a few of us widebody 73RSR rep boys now...we could set up our own Register [:D][:D]

You like widebody rent boys?!? Yo shuld be ashamed of himself Mr Guest of da Club.

Only if they are 73.

All cash returned (which is some relief). Jap "sold the car away at a better price, sorry".

Unimpressed. Wonder if it's worth getting EBAY involved.

Not to be Rick ... feel for you looked a peach ... there are plenty more out there, why not build your own?

Cost and time Des... got too many projects on the go already... which I should focus on to be honest.

Got a V12 E-type disguised as a pile of bits... a 924 Turbo Rallye that needs full restoration.. a DB2 that needs finishing (again), a DB2/4 race car that's just a shell at the moment and needs to be done by mid-autumn and another DB2/4 that needs to be finished and sold ASAP to fund the rest of the projects.

All of which is a little odd as really 911's are my true love!!!

That said, obsessed with the idea of a '73 2.8 RSR style car... but all the cars I've seen for sale suggest to me that building my own is a sure fire way to lose money... so I guess I just keep my eyes open.

Still gutted!

Be thankfull the cash came back! What a list of projects! Very cool. Tell us more about the 924s.....They seem to be a good loop hole car for decent events, I remember you saying this before. It appeals........

We built up a 924T for rallying... did the Historic Monte in it... but engines need a LOT of cunning tricks to keep them alive and since no-one really has much race experience of them, we're learning the hard way!

Then I found an old rally 924T, thought we'd buy it to see if we could learn anything from it and it had some cool trick parts with it.

Turned out, it was the last of the 6, (not 5 as in Jurgens book) factory built rally cars. Has hand built intercoolers, trick g/box (with factory gear charts), dual ignition system which is similar to that used on the Le Mans 956s, and after I bought it, the seller discovered a dash board which had been in it... and which exactly matches that in the Monte Car of 1981 which was thought to be the last built. Ours is def. the final evolution, as it's fitted with aluminium doors, the only 924 known to have them!!

Chassis number is 009, one of the pre-production prototypes which probably saw testing duties before being passed on to the gang of 4 (Barth, Ristl, Janda and Kussmaul).. I bought it from the guy who bought it from a chap called Ristl....

Sometimes the luck runs...

Rick

Sponsored a DB2/4 trailered to Mille Miglia then the Land Rover broke!

Saw a race prepared DB 2/4 MKIII yesterday waiting for some TLC athough looked really nice .... [:D]

Best to buy them Rick and save thousands, just keep loking and suddenly!

Thats pretty cool Rick. Sounds like the second car you bought was a great buy. Very nice to have another special car. Very cool to do the historic monte, and I think a good way in at sensible prices.

Its all about keeping your eyes pealed I'm sure to find these things.

Historic Monte DOESN'T come recommended... thought it was the most dangerous thing I've ever done.

That said... tempted again for 2013...

Is that because of the sheer drops, or something else. Considering your track record, the most dangerous sounds pretty bad.

Trying to avg 50kph on sheet ice, with sheer drops on OPEN stages (traffic coming other way!) and no medical support and no crash helmets allowed and no roll cage necessary. Utter madness. One crew threw a Lancia off the edge and waited an hour for ambulance to come to cut them out. Think doing the real Monte, absolutely flat out would be less dangerous.

But yes, been lucky with cars... now if anyone knows a nice '73 based RSR replica, with steel flares, LHD....

Night time shake down before heading off to Classic LM last week. I can understand your feelings....[:D]

That is EXACTLY what I'm after, stunning... did you find it or have it built Jason?
And if the latter... who did it for you?

Jason,

it looks as if it is worth the long time waiting! Congrats!

Can you post more pics?

Rick I've had it about 4-5 years now. It was built by my mate over in Seattle, he owned the car for 19 years, and then I did some changes to it over here to my spec.

It was an early E originally and I have every bit of history going back to original log book and all previous owners, service receipts etc in a big file.

Some pics....
