Not on my 944 but i swapped some bilsteins on a van deimen single seater. Bought through a company called Jtech in reading good service and the driver said the car was much better, more compliant etc. Its good stuff but it will be about a few grand for a kit for a 944 i would imagine.

Just had a quick look they dont list a kit for a 944 but if you ring them, they would make one i would imagine.

will look into it. But if they are making a set specifically for me, I'm guessing it'll be more than a couple of grand and perhaps too pricey for me. It would be good to know peoples thoughts comparing the Ohlins and Kwv3

Agreed and hopefully someone will be along shortly to advise if it's worth the premium for the Ohlins...

Ohlins will be excellent. The company have a first rate reputation. I wonder if Olli has any direct experience?

Does anyone here have any experience of ohlins suspension on their 944? (For a fast road car)
I'm not sure If it's available on a 944?

Meeting RPM this afternoon for initial discussions with regard to suspension upgrades. Hopefully someone (with experience or first hand knowledge) may be able to offer their thoughts by the afternoon?

Öhlins kits for the 944 were available from a place in the US at some point, but the price was astronomicomical. Back then I think even Moton 3-ways were less expensive. Would be interested to hear if someone else still sells a kit nowadays.

Dont know about the Ohlins but the Kwv3 are very capable and pretty sturdy, makes me smile every time I drive the car, worth every penny... Edd

How much does the KW suspension cost? (Just to purchase the kit.) If I can find anyone selling the Ohlins kit for a 944, I l'll be sure to post.

Spoke to Jtech who have fitted Ohlins to a 944t a few years ago and the cost would be circa £4.5k. That's too much for me so now I guess it's a choice b/w KW and Bilsteins... I know everyone holds KWs in high regard but what are people's thoughts re Bilsteins?

Just started looking into Bilsteins. Apparently there is no like for like equivalent to the KWV3 for the for 944. Only shocks (See [link=http://web1.carparts-cat.com/default.aspx?230=1&36=0&35=171&32=2986&34=0,100121&14=4&10=CCBCDEADEB930901E040A8C0143E6EF0018004&12=130]here[/link]) I will most likely be speaking with someone tomorrow who will have a little more information on the Bilstein. Re the Koni FSDs, I don't know much about these. Feel free to offer your thoughts...

Kws are about £1400 plus fitting/setup

What do want the suspension for - racing or all track work? If not then Ohlins or any bespoke remote reservoir suspension is a nice to have but not necessary and v v expensive. If its the odd track day and road use then KW (or similar) is all you`ll need. KW is chalk and cheese compared to standard.

There are also significant questions over the longevity of any race suspension system if used on a road car. All of these multi-adjustable race systems are constructed with low friction seals and adjusters which can leak + are provided on the basis that they will be used on a race car and consequently tested and rebuilt at regular intervals. The lack of rust protection is only the start of it. The KW v3 kits seem to hold up fairly well on road cars and have SS bodies to resist the rust.

I looked into fitting KWv3 to my turbo a few months ago, and it's a good £2k job (supplied and fitted and vat). I decided to have new Koni adjustable inserts instead, which were supplied and fitted (by JMG) for about half that price. This transformed the handling (my car was still on its original Koni adjustables, after 20 years and 90,000 miles) and was money well spent. I can well believe that the KWv3 kit is even better and even more adjustable, but for my fast road use the new koni inserts are more than sufficient.

In terms of pure handling I find the KW V3 far less good than the Moton 3-way I had before but still went for the KW as I really needed the bypass valve of the KW that are, IMO, a must for road use. The Moton did have more than enough of a wide range of adjustments, but the adjustments were so thin and precise that I was never going to get a wide enough range of damping for fixed settings - either I had them fine for good roads and they would deliver stellar performance there but be rubbish on poor roads, or I would have them soft enough on poor roads but the car would feel like a Cadillac on good roads.
