I didn't run myself as i wasn't sure if i was going to make it, and also my tyres, Race Maxx, were pretty marginal. Primarily wanted to take in the sights and sounds - see some of these cars at full chat, being used as intended. Met some really nice people - even managed to get some passenger laps in fiercely piloted GT4.... and was loaned a helmet... Many thanks to Jason and Kevin. Loads of GT4s - which was great for me! A number of 991.2 GT3s which was great to see - there was a black one which was intent on buzzing the pit wall every lap!. As mentioned there was also an 991.2 Cup car getting having a shakedown which was great. Whole event definitely has given me the bug to get out on track next time - so looking for the next events now!!.
Sounds like you might have the bug for it indeed!
For your info, the guy buzzing the pit wall was actually doing it because that's the racing (qualifying) line (and he's done a fair bit of Porsche racing). Those that have raced at Oulton (and instructors) will tell you that the pit straight from the rise at deer leap to the end of the pit wall should be treated as a long curve i.e. you let the car drift to the wall and back again because that's the fast way. However, on trackdays most of us keep left on the straight to prevent others close behind think we are moving over to let them pass. Because if we didn't, there could be a coming together as we head into the bend at Old Hall.
