I also use http://www.brooklandskent.co.uk/ for servicing etc - £70 per hour labour. Haven't spoken to Barry there for a cost to fit yet but if it takes 2 hours looking at about £670 all in.
Hope that helps
John
Neat job and hood replaced reasonably priced. Hoods as tight as a drum now.
Good selection of cars and wheel upgrades. If your interested take a look.

Read that myself, called them up yesterday, the chap I spoke to was very knowledgeable, they do bonded in glass, Mohair has the plug for the demister, seemed to be able to answer the questions straight off, obviously done them before.ORIGINAL: bdheng
According to their website, soft tops only do plastic screen replacement, not glass.
A number of companies do glass replacement hoods as you can see in the forum
They have also quoted me mobile fitting for £40 in Maidstone
I have no allegance to them nor am I singing their priases necessarily, but do seem to come up well within the forum.

I got my hood from them 2 years ago, think I will stick to who I know, have booked them for tomorrow £680 all in and done at home.ORIGINAL: bdheng
Car hood in Chessington appear to have good references, and they have an offer on at the moment for £650 including fitting and vat.

Hi Jeegnesh, how did the hood replacement go? Should have stretched and settled by now with the warm weather I am looking to have Carhood Warehouse in Chessington do mine this year so would be interested to hear your comments. I'm going to go for the glass rear screen as have plastic at present. Does it truly mean no more "Boxster Chop" and folds away with no problems?
Thanks for your thoughts.
Had replied via email, but will post here in case it is useful for other folks too:
This is my second hood from carhood, I had it done in Jan 2010 but a few weeks back my mechanic ripped the hood whilst he was working on the car, so they paid for getting it replaced. So I would say I have fairly good experience from carhood.
- Called, booked got next day date for fitting. £650 plus they charged £30 to come out and do it at my home (FAB)
- Same guy that done it in Jan 2010 arrived and he remembered me too (always a good sign)
- Job was done in 1.5-2 hours
- He knew exactly what he was doing and a very nice chap (Tyrone)
- The hood quality is just like OEM, lovely black Mohair and as it's new, lovely deep rich colour.
- The Glass window
[**] smaller then the plastic window you are used, which didn't bother me as at least I can see out the glass one
[**] The demister works perfectly, the hood comes with OEM plug, which he plugs into the port near the back and then the demist button just works (heaven on those cold days)
[**] The glass is bonded in, so no stitching involved, and the bonded glass comes with lifetime guarantee, so if it ever comes away, they will sort it out. - Yes it's true and a joy, no more chopping since Jan 2010, as the glass is solid it causes a natural crease, thus no chop is required.
- The only thing I have noticed is over time you get these 4 circles over the bar area showing on the hood, but I have seen this on all boxster, I did ask him and he said it caused by the sponges that the hood sits on. (which I believe even my friends 911 has them and he is on the OEM hood)
- Initially it is very very tight, so hard to close, does stretch over time and becomes easier, but I quite like the tension, makes it feel like a snug fit. (Although can cause the missus a little trouble in the first few months when closing)
- 1 year guarantee on everything else, but it was comforting knowing when I came back to the company 2 years down the line, they were still around with the same people.
Hope that helps, if you want pics or anything else I didn't cover just ask.
The Saint.

[FONT=arial"]Thanks to everyone who has posted "" as a new member (and a first time Porsche owner) the forum has been useful.[FONT=arial"]
[FONT=arial"] [FONT=arial"]So here is my dilemma I have decided to bite the bullet and get a glass screen and from all the posts am now tossing up between either fitting a Gahh or BAS hood. Both get good reports here, both have quoted me about the same around £700 fitted (London) but its difficult to judge if there is any real difference between the two. Speaking to the two suppliers each claim theirs is the best and from the photos they have sent me it looks like the BAS glass might be a bit bigger "" does anyone know if that is correct or has anyone ever seen the two side by side to compare?
So old but good info here:

In the end I got them to fit a new BAS hood with the heated window and they did a fantastic job. In my opinion the glass window looked great and made a big difference in day to day use. I also took the opportunity to fit a SmartTop auto roof relay which transformed the useability of the convertible roof.
Never had any further problems with it..
Obviously this is only really useful if you have the glass replacement screen which doesn't need to be folded, as otherwise you could end up splitting the rear screen again!!

Found this link which gives a way to do exactly the same without buying anything
http://www.pedrosgarage.com/Site_3/Top_Operational_while-in-motion.html
(Pedro: Good friend of mine)
That is the 'pin 18' mod, and only bypasses the speed sensor, not the handbrake.
Also, it does not prevent the operation of the roof at speeds greater than 30mph nor is it 'one touch'.
