Friday 22nd May 2009 - 6.30 - 9pm - Poole Quay 09

The planned WOTY/ weekend break on the Southern coastline of the UK, namely Poole and the Jurassic coast area.
Poole Tourism host the laid back event with Porsche's parked around the Quayside for an evening (a dry one hopefully) of chat and flavoured liquids.
Dining on the Friday is an unplanned and social event amongst the many Quayside eateries and bars.
Last year nearly 100 Porsche owners attended this event, this year we hope that it will break the 100 mark, either way there is plenty to see and do harbour side.
This is taking place over a Bank Holiday weekend, so whilst it may add a bit of traffic, it will offer everyone the chance of a pleasant short break.

For Poole Quay you will also need to register here ; http://www.911uk.co.uk/Dorset/poole_quay_2009.htm on the email please put 997 register.

Saturday 23rd- Drive and Dine. Charity BBQ
Upon leaving the event Friday it's hoped that the majority will continue to enjoy the company at the chosen Hotel.
Just outside of Poole itself and set next to the sea we have reserved 10 rooms at the Salterns Hotel.
The hotel offers plenty of free but secure (with CCTV) parking next to the hotel and the cost base is ideal with it only slightly more expensive than the travel Inn experience plus we get a full English breakfast to start our day off.
http://www.salternsharbourside.co.uk/
Rooms start from £95
Standard £95
Side Sea view £105
Seaview £125
They have a range of suites, singles and doubles available at this time.
Please mention Porsche club 997 when making the booking so they can keep me updated.

The start of Saturday we have a short but stunning drive planned first inland and then venturing out to the stunning Jurassic coast to park up and enjoy the views and scenery, be aware that due to it being a Bank Holiday it may well be busy and the parking charge at the stop of West Lulworth is £5
Following on from the stop we will make our way back to the fabulous area of Sandbanks where we have been invited by Bob Fairchild to the hosted Charity BBQ at around 5pm
Bob and his wife will be hosting the 997 BBQ and will be supplying us with food and refreshments.
The idea is that we try and raise funds for the hospice for terminally ill children, a great cause I'm sure you will all agree, the hospice is the http://www.julias-house.org/ - click the link to see the great work they do, on the way back into Poole from the Jurassic coastline we will be stopping off to meet the kids and offer some of the children rides in our cars. The offer of rides to the children is not compulsory, however those that have ever done this will already know how rewarding this can be for both parties
Therefore it's been requested that we all try and make donations of £25 per person by those attending the BBQ.
For this not only will you have great company, be well fed, but also have the chance to win either a bottle of Moet, a golfing umbrella or a case of selected fine wines, all to be presented on the evening.
The numbers to the BBQ will be limited to approx 20 persons so hopefully we can make a fair donation to the good cause.

We'd love to see as many people for the Poole meet, to prove once again how social and interactive the 997 register owners are.
Its a great location for hopefully the southern people to attend.

Ferraris not welcome - I guess? []
I've checked my post and I don't see anything that says not.. [;)]
Poole may think its a bit odd though (Clive email Nick as he may have more idea than myself)
As for the register part, I don't see why not, we always need a runt of the litter [:D]

50 miles of great roads are fine, looks like there's plenty to do and some very nice Hotels in the surrounding area ( I may stay on Sunday too and actualy get to Bovington)

There are obviously a wide range of Hotels in Poole.

Chain Hotels

1. Premier Travel Inn[/b] "" Holes Bay Road
Modern low cost hotel approx 2 miles from Sunseeker factory

Situated right on Poole Quay in centre of Poole. Hotel not as young as it was but very convenient for the Quay

Modern low cost hotel just a few years old 3 miles or so from Sunseeker factory. Nothing special about the location

Luxury
1. Harbour Heights Hotel[/b] "" 73 Haven Road 01202 399227

Secure parking. Located next to Sandabanks ferry with good views and choice of eating

Things to see and do in Poole[/b]
[/b]
Poole has a lot to offer including:
1. Beautiful beaches which are clean and a pleasure to use. You can walk from Sandbanks right to Bournemouth along the prom if you wish. Up to 7 miles along the beach.

2. Harbour is very attractive. Boat trips available from the key but a bit touristy

3. Sandbanks ferry takes you to the other side of the harbour (with car or as a foot passenger) where you can visit Studland beach, Old Harry Rocks Corfe Castle,Juraasic Coast etc

Gary
I forgot to mention that I can also arrange for 3 or 4 members to stay at the Royal Motor Yacht Club if that was of interest. Not the best hotel in town but fabulous location in private members club and gated parking and good food. http://www.royalmotoryc.co.uk Let me know if you are interested.

Cheers Bob,
I was looking at the Harbour heights [8D] but it seemed a little excessive for a group and until I get an idea of numbers I can't start to discuss a possible discount...
For me though :p on a sunny weekend- which it will be I'm assured!!

I hope Gary doesn't mind my jumping in but that sounds too good an opportunity to miss - I'm interested.

Count me and Nicky in for the 23rd.

Doubt we can take the Friday off for the Quay event though.

Allan,
I think Gary wants to book a group Hotel. There are a number with secure parking so we will see what deal Gary can come up with. Gary will announce details of the BBQ soon but it will be a charge event with all money going to a childrens hospice

Alex
Even if you cant make the start of the Poole Quay event I think its worth driving down on the Friday evening. If not make sure you get a very early start on the Saturday to avoid the traffic which can be bad

I too cannot do the Friday, but would be interested in the Saturday, if that is feasible.

Sadly Mrs MarcBC has zero interest in cars and so it will be just me.

Marc, The Saturday won't be that much about the cars, more to do with beautiful places and people [;)]
