Just an idea that was bounced around on 911uk forum as an idea for a run out for those members with children.

"Well I often go up to Richmond Park at weekends to take the chidlren cycling but obviously not in the Porsche. I'd happily take them along for lunch and a run in the park using either the Dysart as a base (there's a gate nearby) or Pembroke Lodge at the top of the hill in the park itself.
Needn't be a regular event. Perhaps once every three months of a few gatherings during spring summer with a picnic. As long as we have the Porsche I know my children would be up for it."

Have you ever tried driving in and around Paris [and I don't mean Paris Hilton [;)]]? Congestion, almost impossible to park and dodgem cars seem the order of the day.

A Eurpean road trip of some description sounds very appealing - countries TBD, but something along the lines of : -
slow (relatively that is ) drive down to the sound of France, then on to Monaco, Italy and Milan, up to Prague, then back home through Germany, Belgium, Netherlands.

Or from the south of France so the other way down to Barca, across to Madrid, over to portugal then back up to Brittany - 10/14 days nice

NURBURGRING !

Please can we organise a trip !

Join the Boys on the 964RS 15 YEAR HOON at Spa Francochamps Prsche Club Weekend commencing 24th May - 27th May then Ring on the Monday, great blast look at 964RS Forum Thread.....

Great ideas everyone... I think there's deffo chance for a leisurely drive down south as far as the Italian factories with a return via the 'Ring...

If you had to pick 1-2 weeks during the summer, when would be your preference? It would be good to organise it at a time that suits people!

Here's another variation - easier to organise and would help assess levels of interest.

A couple of times a year I go to France for the day. Early tunnel, then blast through North West France. Some empty Autoroute to clear the cobwebs, then superb cross country routes, followed by a very good lunch. Then more leisurely return to Calais, dropping in at La Perouda for the best wines on sale in Calais, then home.

Day return on the tunnel is about £50, fuel quite a bit more.... I have routes, good roads, nice lunch spots etc.

Excellent idea for a day trip and you can also pick up 5l Mobil One oil at the supermarket for some 23 euros on the return...

Great idea. I'd be up for that provided I still have the Porsche. Please avoid Festival of Speed and Revival weekends!

hi all

2 day trip to france in november, need to speak to 997reg for info on trip they done short while ago

chris

The only issue is that for an event in November we will not get time to leave it in Porsche Post long enough i.e. we need to submit everything for November PP by the end of the month as the Oct PP report has already gone through. The next report we will submit will land on the doorsteps in the last week of October not leaving much time for advance train bookings (they require all the payments and names a month before travel for the group discount rate) and I'm sure we will have to put a deposit and guarantee numbers for accommodation a month in advance too. I don't think we will get that much of a response for a trip in December (I think)

Whereabout in France did they go? Cayman guys have also done a Champagne trip this year and can help us with all the details (which is what we were going to use for the September trip) but I assume it will be too late in the season for a Champagne house tours at the end of the year(?)

Remember, we also have our 07 France day trip to repeat in 2008 Spring with a second day for anyone who wants to use the Abbeville track and the rest can either do the same day return or do their own stuff for Sunday...

Also keep in mind for overseas we can also do Isle of Man (Geoff Ives annual trip in May would be great to join as a region) and also as of yesterday we have an open invite from the Porsche Club of Ireland AKA PCGB Ireland region for a trip out in Ireland.

That Swiss trip for 2008 also sounds great.
