'Pre 1974' Track Day - Silverstone

My compliments to PCGB. Many thanks for a superb track day.
Well organised and yet quite relaxed. Everyone was very considerate and well behaved.
It was marvellous to see so many early cars together. The fact that is was nearly exclusively pre-'74 cars meant most vehicles were fairly evenly paced and the track kept pretty clear and free of bunching. Just the right numbers.
Let's hope such an event can happen again. Well done.

I can only echo Paul's comments. Thanks to Steve Kevlin for the superb organisation. On track behaviour waas one of the best I have seen, and I saw it from one of the slowest cars and one of the fastest. Let's do it again!

Great week-end and thanks for all the kind comments on the car, worth the hard work over the past couple of weeks.

The track-day was fantastic, especially after the tyres had worn in. Highlight had to be the instructor Mike Wilds showing me how it should be driven, then swopping seats making me carry the same speed through Copse, Becketts and Brooklands, albeit with his hand on the wheel as well, just in case.

PCGB had done a great job in putting the day together, especially considering the Early 911 register secretary had gone absent in the run up to the day, can't help wondering if we could have filled all the places with early cars if he had been more pro-active.

Final thanks to Barry, who, thoughtful as ever brought along a spare exhaust box in case I was to noisy, hope you enjoyed the ride.

Here's looking forward to the next 'Early Car' track-day!

Even though I never got out on the track in my car (due to a hopefully minor clutch issue) . . . I had a great day (weekend).

My special thanks to Barry . . . as without his help I'd have been on the back of a tow truck for the journey home(top, top bloke AAA+++).

Mark's (912) passenger ride was an eye opener . . . he really gave it some stick . . good on you.

And 'praise be' the issue I had with Paul's S was very minor to say the least - and thanks for the loan, great car.

My passenger ride with Thomas (Boosty) was as you'd expect . . . . 'where am I, what am I doing here' . . . great attitute though 'tyre pressures - what tyre tressures'. You've got to love him.

My trip in the Targa was again a new experience . . . . sitting in an S targa at full kilt sounds fab.

Mike's car is great - nothing else needs to be said.

Here's to the next one - perhaps Cadwell Park.

Phil

what a wonderful day :) Fantastic sight seeing (almost) nothing but early cars screeming around the track

TBH, this was one of the 1st trackdays I have REALLY enjoyed.

Well I think it's safe to say i have now a new found respect for a number of things.

One, my car again ( Jo's shouting thank god!! )

Two, the club for doing some thing different and for a well organised event

Three, the type of people who went

I think it's safe to say if you are worried as I know I was about just going on any old track day.. I would wait to get the numbers up so we can do another classic day. I thought the day was very safe and well worth learning more about your cars abilities which I certainly did [:D]

Now for my shopping list

Front and rear Anti roll bars
911 T front discs and calipers
Rear the same
my new engine with more power
might have to change the cam shaft from a mild road to street/race [:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

Thoroughly enjoyed the trackday - great group of people, coaching from Mike Wilds was excellent, had a fantastic time - when is the next one?

did anyone find out who the photographers were?

I think the guy who does all the Porsche Club track days was there, in which case you should get a letter in a couple weeks with photos of your car for purchase. If you wanted to know for sure, I'm sure Paul or Steve at Cornbury House would know.

A bit disappointed that no-one has posted their photos on here.

Mike, were you on the trackday in the 996? Think you were following me for a couple of laps when I had the instructor in with me [:)]
