no update for a while, with the engine compete the bodywork has been a slow and painful process! luckily there appears to now be light at the end of the tunnel, got the sienna metallic paint (sorry to all those you pleaded with me not to paint it in it's original colour!) on the bonnet and front wings.

i'm really happy with the way the colour has tuned out, it is exactly what i was hoping for - not too loud but still a bit different from the norm with a great period 70's feel to it.

also got the wheel back from being refurbish. not quite the original look but looking good given the options here.

finally, after months of seeming going nowhere, i have some progress to report.

it's alive! sweet, sweet music to my ears

Great looking job thus far...... and Sienna Metallic was a surprisingly popular colour at the time.

Enjoying seeing the progress! Shall keep an eye on future developments!

Best wishes with the project.

Attached is a little snap of mine, from my wedding this year!

thanks martin - seeing nice examples of the stock 930s always helps keep me focused on the ever brightening light at the end of this rusty tunnel!

What a lovely 930 this will be. The underlying problems with rust and the amount of filler is a serious put off as already mentioned. Again, it has put me on the side line for buying a cheap 930 with slight bubbling. It seems to be the case after viewing several other project threads that a small amount of bubbling will turn into a colossal amount of work and money. I still can't believe how many of these 911's have been neglected in the past.

Best of luck with the remainder of the rebuild process, I am very sure it will be worth it in the end!

Wow... it's fabulous, Mark. What a project and what a result. You must be so chuffed.
I love the colour and the sound of driving a 930 turbo, well, you must have a permanent smile on by now. (It's my ultimate car to own one day, but I must say my wife and I are really enjoying the 997 Targa for now!) But seriously, one day...

Enjoy to the full - would love to see (and hear) it in the flesh but Singapore is a little too far to pop round and see.
Best,
Roelof.

Looks absolutely superb - well done that man.
I've just re-acquired my old 1976 3.0 930 (and drove it for over 100 miles today) - they are superb machines, so far ahead of their time.

[8D]Great work! And u must be very proud of this achievement
with a stunning result produced.
Have really enjoyed the build and the engine pics especially.
Like the colour chosen, there are a few for sale over here but
vary with condition, not many like yours only one I've seen at Bromley
Motor show in speed yellow it looked pretty awesome with speedline split rims.
How did the gearbox refurb go in the end?
Did use original?
Enjoy driving, and bet turbo's great when it kicks in!

thanks for all the kind comments.

i'm still running it in due to the engine rebuild so i haven't had the best out of it yet. but even keeping it below 4,000rpm it is very responsive with little lag, i get boost from about 2,500rpm up.

i think i will enjoy the high performance that the modified engine delivers, but now that i've got the body looking almost stock, my mind keeps drifting to putting the whole thing back to original...

the moment of truth

strapped down and ready to go

i really don't like dynoing cars. especially in this heat (ambient temp 32C and up)

sights like this make me shudder

but in the end it's all worth it

375bhp
