Hi Geoff,

As this is too short notice to get in the Porsche Post, can it also be sent to the R21 members via the e-mail system used to communicate Region info?

I spent most of yesterday evening e-mailing everyone on the R21 database.
Geoff

I can confirm that I received an email from Geoff yesterday informing me of the meeting [:)]

Why'd you leave me out then? It might be that technically I'm not part of the Chiltern region since I moved. To the Chilterns.

I won't take it personally. [;)]

Maybe because the system rejected the e-mail address held on the database.

pauljmcnulty@ntlworld.com

If so get on to Jade at Club Office.

Will do, Geoff. That address is over two years out of date, but there's no problem with Martin's Chiltern e-mail ring, or any of the other Club areas that have my e-mail address such as forum, 944 register, membership, motorsport etc. [&:]

Sorry if this is off topic, but.
This is a problem with the Club database. It is not kept up to date as members forget to notify 'Membership' when they change e-mail addresses. Last night I had 43 addresses bounce

It happens in my own region. We all do it. Change your home address and you notify Club Office so that you get your Porsche Post. Change e-mail address or car model and there is no incentive.[:-]

Yep, it's way off topic! [:D]

This isn't because I've forgotten to change my e-mail. Two years ago it changed. The Club office know, as my 944@ mails come to me. Martin knows as R21 RO, as his e-mails come to me. E-mails from membership, events, motorsport, IT, you, all come to me without problems.

Whatever database you've used here is at least two years out of date. Martin's list has always been kept current, so is probably the best one to use. Unless there's some reason he can't send his usual region round-robin e-mail to advise of this meeting, of course!

It came from membership (Jade) last week.
The problem is probabley that when you changed your e-mail address they changed the Officials list but not the database.
Knowing who would have been responsible 2 years ago I must say that I am not surprised.

i will be in new york on the 22nd week but would very much like to suggest some interesting drive out days/evenings as part of the future of r21.dont know if anyone else agrees.
personally i have no interest in go karts .no problem with those that do ,just would like to see other things .i know surrey and southwest region(amongst others)have regular trips.
just a thought-and probably been aired before.......[;)]

This comes up a lot. Fact is, the karting gets regular numbers, month after month, year after year, including non-members and members from other regions. Nothing else Martin's organised seems to get the same support, so why continue with them?

Personally I don't tend to go to the regular nights as the venue isn't all that nice and there's not much on that appeals to me. I've mentioned this before, but apparently no-one seems to have an alternative venue that would work. Not knowing the actual area the region covers ( I believe it doesn't include the Chilterns so maybe a name change would be the first step to getting people to support it [8|] ), it's hard to know where would be a good, central venue with more potential.

I know that it's the same for an RO as an RS, you can ask the members what they'd like to do, and get zero response. Or, you can organise something yourself and very few members support it. [&o]

I would be interested in drives too (if I ever get my car back, that is). On a good day I love to have some destination for my driving or I tend to end up on the same roads again and again, of course a good lunch with pleasant company is always attractive.

Now we just need someone to organise it.......

Being new to R21, and Porsche ownership, I previously went to a R20 (London) meet at Ace cafe.

Poor turnout and found that speaking to other region members, a group drive event (keeping within the limits of the law) would be well received.

Maybe combining it with other regions if initial uptake is low.

The cars a beautiful to look at and it would be great to organise something where you can use them as well.

IMO

Hows this for a driving idea?
A drive down to Cornbury House.... A short rally route. Maybe the one we used for Front Runners..... Mid afternoon lunch at a very special hostlery.. Drive home.

I have a termplate for this and am happy to make Cornbury House available. This is of course the decision of the nee R/O or Committee. But the offer is on the table. No cost involved.

Wow Geoff!!!!!

I just had a look at the place. Lovely!!!

Its in Oxfordshire right???

The open area looks massive, more than enough space to accommodate other regions if need be.

I say that, because the regions are made up of people not necessarily living there. I live in NW London yet have been allocated Chilterns.

Love the idea, but what are others views????

Firstly I hope you are looking at Cornbury House Moreton in Marsh.GL56 0JQ and not Cornbury Park., Charlbury

Never the less we can comfortably accomodate 250 cars at a weekend.
Geoff

Don't worry I was looking at the 'head quarters'

Still looks nice.

I just googled Cornbury Park... DOUBLE Wow. Can we not organise it there?????[:D]

Chiltern is an odd area, seems to cover most of the South East except the Chilterns. [&:]

Don't worry too much about areas, most of us go to any event we like regardless of whether it's our own region, the more the merrier. London was split in to the outlying areas, as it's too big an area and with no obvious car-centered venues in the middle.

Personally, I seem to spend half my life at Cornbury House, with Frontrunner and the Cotswold Rally being based there, and numerous other events in that part of the country. I'd like to see more drives out from the R21 area, but it's not that simple. More than 12 cars means you have to go through the process of officially organising the drive; Geoff is the expert here and that's why so many of the rallies are on his patch, and all down to his hard work. We would need someone in the region willing to take the task on, not too difficult but time-consuming, and we seem to have no interest in organising this sort of thing at the moment. Perhaps the Region meeting will get some people more enthusiastic.
