R21 Planning for the future

My day job demands that if my clients need me, I'm there for them. Last night was therefore unwelcome as I had planned to attend, and in the end didn't get home until after 9pm.

Can someone enlighten me as to what was discussed, voted on, and what the ideas to be taken forward for the future are please?

Thanks
David

Hi Everyone,

It was nice to meet the region yesterday,

For David's benefit and anyone else that that missed the meeting, the key points discussed:

1) Who would take over from Geoff - To be decided
2) Setting up a committee - Members put themselves forward to help the RO
3) What events we would like to see?
4) Better use of communication in the Region
5) Go Karting
6) Different venue suggestions - an idea about moving the venue to give people a choice
7) Different days to hold the monthly meetings
8) Dates for future meetings/events eg. BBQ etc (Sorry did not write down the dates)

For me it was nice to meet everyone, (although I expected more of a turnout)

Nice spread of food!!![:)] Thanks to the organisers

Look forward to meeting everyone soon again.

PS. Martin - Cant commit to the BBQ at the moment. Better count us out!! Thanks

Thanks Tiku

Under 1 I take it you mean Martyn?

Do you know if we will we see minutes published anywhere with decisions taken / volunteers agreed to investigate specific issues?

David

Hi David,

This wasn't really a formal meeting with minutes etc., more an informal chance to put forward suggestions. As such, thanks to Geoff for coming along, and the newer members of the region who put forward a different viewpoint from those who've been members of R21 for centuries. [:D]

Tiku's listed the main points very well, but it's basically that there's now a comittee in place to take things forward, and anyone who wants to take on the role of RO can now put themselves forward. Any other decisions, such as change of regular venue or different events, will be implemented then. Again, all suggestions are welcome.

It was disappointing to only get just over one percent of R21 members turning out, although I know some sent apologies and obviously people have other commitments. Ultimately you get the region or register you ask for, but it's good to see that enough people are prepared to help out and there's no chance of a void period after Martin steps aside. A very positive evening all round, in my opinion.

Couldn't make the meeting as was out of the country, and good to see Tiku's summary, but who are the members of the new committee?

but who are the members of the new committee?

Now the only one with a list is Jo Walker, so perhaps she or Robin could add anyone I've missed off here? [&:]

In no order at all:

Ken Coad
Ashley Miller
Jo and Robin Walker
Me if needed
Did Fern put his hand up?

Is there a definitive map with the PCGB regional boundaries on?

There was when I was Regional Director and I expect that there is one now. I used to display this each time we had a Workers Conerence. Maybe it has got lost over time.

All the Regions are sub divided by the second tier of post codes and it's quite easy to reproduce on post coded A1 map of the United Kingdom.

Peter is correct.
There was one in his day but I haven't seen it for years. It would be out of date now due to Regions amalgamating and boundry changes.
I will see what I can do but don't hold your breath as we are up to our necks in... Silverstone Classic.... Porsche & Polo....The main 50th Event.

Geoff

I alos want to convey my apologies for not making it to the meeting.

I had intended to attend but a last minute business trip meant I was not in the country.
I am hoping I can make the barbecue next week - I am all paid up but work may get in the way again.

This sounds like a great opportunity for the region to build on the great work Martyn has done and develop it into one of the better, most active regions in the club.
Best of luck to the committee and I look forward to meeting some of them next week.

Hi everyone,

15 Members attended the meeting last week including Geoff Ives - Regional Director who presided over the meeting.

At this stage of the game people tend to volunteer, think about it and then change their mind, so the situation is fluid to say the least. Hopefully it won't be long before a Committee will be formed and a new Regional Organiser will emerge from somewhere to move Chiltern Region forward. At time of writing the people who have volunteered to be on the Organising Committee are Robin and Jo Walker, Ashley Millar, Gary Martin, Ken Coad, Richard York, Chris James, Terry and Kathy Perry and Tracy and Cliff Wilkins, apologies if I have left anyone's name off the list.

We'll just have to watch this space and see how things will develop. Our next meeting on 12th July 2011 will be at a different venue to start re-organising Chiltern Region.

Bye for now.

Jo Walker
