Rear cage

Re insurance for jeff, the companies that ran a mile included most of them! I rang virtually all the insurers on the PCGB list they send out (about 30 names)... Footman James didn't like them, Norwich Union (via Nowell and Richards) didn't like them... and some off the list like Tesco etc etc. didn't either.

Most people don't realise how disliked cages are by insurance companies - maybe because they didn't see it as a performance mod and didn't mention it to the broker, or the broker didn't realise the significance and failed to mention it to the underwriters. After all, who'd think insurers would be so unhappy? My only advice is to check with your insurer if you are worried. Many will often allow it retrospectively out of goodwill (Footman James did this for an existing customer even though I was refused as new business).

The Heigo one sounds lovely. Des has got me thinking about a cage again, the naughty chap.

Was the full harness in place at the time Matt? accounts for your higher pitched voice![]

just the normal seatbelts...the high pitched voice is a different thing altogether [:D]

When I was inquiring about fitting a cage to another of my cars the insurer said that they don't like cages as you could in theory take the car racing, crash it then make a claim! feeble I know but that's what they said.

Can you expand on that please Matt...........[;)]

LEE look at "SOME INTERESTING PARTS FOR SALE THREAD" in this section, 2X Matter cages for sale both the real item as per 964RS factory spec............[;)]

Des, would these fit better than the Safety Devices ones? Do you know?

The dollar is good at the mo', but not the kind of thing that fits in a jiffy bag, LOL.

If it's a factory Matter then ask the CS and Cup Car boys, I would think that as an original factory part it will also enhance the value of your lightweight as it was a factory fitted option for your car at the time. GO FOR IT, make him a bid including shipping and insurance.[;)] Lee might beat you to it!!![&:]

Lee, it would be quicker to train a monkey...........go to the thread directly below entitled "some interesting Parts for sale" then click on the bits and you will come to a factory MATTER 964RS cage for sale in USD.............[&o][:(][>:][X(][][&:][8|][&o][:-][X(][&o][8|][:-][][:'(][:(][&:][>:][X(][8|][&o][:-][][:'

Anyone of you guys know if I can still buy a new rear cage for the RS?

Heigo or Matter for example are names that have been banded around or is the factory option jobbie still available?

Dont want to weld it in just bolt it to existing holes.

Thanks
I eagerly await.

Have you got enough Porsche Crests on your car, Des? You can have some of mine if you want. [;)][:D]

Thanks Dom, just backs of beautifully painted seats and rear window also having a tatoo done of Porsche Crest.....

Wot no crests on the bonnet and wheel centres? You disappoint me, Des. I thought 8 was a fine tally - nine if you include the key fob [:D]

Anyway, back to business.

I found this half cage that should fit a 964RS here, on ebay.co.uk at 40 quid with no bids yet:

Des has seduced me into the full Heigo caboodle, so I shall pass this to the throng.

Confusing when I talk to my local OPC reference the availability of both the factory option cage and strut brace. Both were a no no. no longer available they say.

So last week I asked one of my parts guys to ring Porsche and order a strut brace and would you Adam & Eve it today an nice new Heigo strut brace turned up.

So do any of you guys know if the rear cages are still available through an OPC as I still cant trust their final word.
