REAR WIPER

YOU SHOULD GET ONE........[:D]

I did and so did my friend.... we never regreted one day with our rear wiper....[:)]

so get it with... [:)]

I have a C4s Cab and hence no option of rear wiper - I keep a small squegee in the car (the type that is used to dry off paintwork - very flexible) that I use to get rid of any standing water when I get in the car - after that the aerodynamics do the rest (haven't even bothered with rainX). IF I did have a coupe and decided to get the rear wiper then I would wonder off to a freind of mine and get him to wire in a jet too.. would be a pretty easy job to do..

I have also thought about the possibility to add rear wiper. A bit of Google searching and it looks likely to be replacement rear window, wiper motor and new stalk switch for the front and a PIWIS re-programming to activate rear wipe function. Not sure about if the wiring loom already supports the addition, but is likely already in place.

Also read good recommendations about the use of Rain-X on your windows that make the rain roll off.....I may try this.

Interested to see if anyone has done the retro fit of the rear wiper though.

Hello everyone,

My 997.1 does not have a rear windscreen wiper. Has anyone retro fitted one of these to their car please?

Thanks JP

Have known one or two who've had them removed for aesthetic reasons!!

Dylan,

Yes you have a fair point!

Angus,

RainX or similar probably does the job, at a fraction of the price!

Thanks chaps!

When I was searching for my 997.2 I deliberated for hours about the rear wiper and, in the end, listened to those that said it wasn't necessary and accepted the lack of one as a compromise worth taking when I found a car that had everything else I was looking for.

On the whole I've found it unnecessary and just use RainX - as soon as you get moving with any speed the rain soon clears. One useful tip I picked up was to always reverse into a parking space. I tend to do this anyway but it does mean that if the car gets rained on while parked you aren't struggling with visibility when reversing out before it's had chance to clear.

I also like not having to clean around it! [:)]

A 997 with a rear wiper I never considered when on the prowl (I got one with )

Had two Audi TT's and a rear wiper is not an option hence RainX was.
(servicing costs higher than Porsche)

Gap [;)]

I worry about you not worrying about not cleaning the rear wiper you don't have

Hi Bear911

I worry about me too - as does my better half, frequently [:)]

Looks like we are same region so at some point I might get to show you how clean my missing rear wiper is!
