Would yellow bulbs work?
Red & yellow make orange.
If my logic is correct then the result would be no different or perhaps even worse. If I am correct the lenses will only allow light of red wavelength to pass through. Much in the same as we see colours because of the wavelength of light that something reflects or absorbs. At least that is what I recall from science lessons of many many moons ago. How many moons I am not prepared to divulge [

Just bought..

It will take a couple of weeks to arrive, but its cheap and I can always remove it if it doesn't look good.

A stronger bulb (LED or similar) may be needed to get enough of that original colour through, but it is doable. Friends of mine have the tinted stuff and have been through MOT's without worry (not the really dark stuff though I may add). There's bits about legality in UK here too :

As with any of this type of stuff, it's not 100% as Porsche intended, but most of the time you can get aftermarket stuff to look right and still be functional enough to be legal.
I've no affiliation with lamin-x or anyone else, just that I've been looking into it for a bit. Pics of my car will surface in the new year no doubt haha, as I'm gonna be trying this stuff myself I think.

I have seen clear lenses on eBay germany, but not in UK - any pointers on this?
Cheers

Take a look here.....www.protocast.co.uk [
Obviously I'm biased, but I think that clears are a better looking conversion than red tint or vinyl. Also I've never heard of any issues with clear rears from anywhere in the world. IMO for best effect, these should be fitted with chrome/silver bulbs(which flash amber)

I am going to do this but just using red tinting spray.
The 968 rears were all red. How do they flash orange?
Apparently green bulbs works aswell but not as well as orange led's
Would yellow bulbs work?
No it won't work. Have tried it. Flash just red. As i wrote earlier, only 968 style solution will give the best result. All others, even, bright leds, will give red flash. Just study how factory did it with 968 and you have a glue how to make it. That's how i am going to do it.

Double lenses. Outer lens is colored very fade shade of pink. In some parts it is more or less clear. Inner lens is amber with vertical red stripes. It is aligned in the way that those red stripes align with outer lenses almost clear parts. With this, it gives an illusion also outer lense is more red than it is in nature. I have broken 968 taillights from which i have taken these inner lenses.

Looks good wolfie. Like you say probably better than tinted red.
Have you got white rear fogs too? I think that would be the best combination, the whole top half of the lens clear, the bottom red.
I like the top all clear and bottom red - looks great - I have asked Procast for a quote and will let you know the price

In this pic I used the red tint film (Lamin-X) to colour code just the white reversing light to match the red tail lights. It was on for two years, 74,000 miles and numerous jet washes with no issues. Just need to install well.

May inspire someone to do a good job on the their '44.
