Pete

Power is nothing without control,
A lot of you guys need to get out more (Covid permitting!) to see some race cars next year, you'll be astounded what you thought was quick and
what's not....

Well, I'm not new to race meets having among others closely followed the Porsche cup during the late 90's early 00's...A race meeting would have many championships running, including for that matter the mini's. But the real car to watch was the 951 and often stated by the commentaters as the car to watch during the race...it's in a different league to most others and certainly faster than other Porsches...an NA 924 or 944 race car isn't even close in performance, in fact decidingly 'pedestrian' in comparison. For me and I'll admit that this is a personal preference when driving...is sheer accelleration...nothing can give you the kick of a turbo charged engine. The bonus with the 951 is it's just as good in the bends as on the straights.

Oh dear, how do the N/A car's lap faster than the 952's then in the many classic car races we have in the Uk? if it's in a different league? and the real car to watch ...

See one example below, Snetterton Circuit 924 2.0 3rd quickest, 3.0 S2 6th, 944 turbo 11 seconds slower than the 924 in 21st ?

Roger, most of what you asked is elsewhere in this thread. Beyond that, I'm afraid I have no interest in your opinions and rants here. If that's considerd rude of me, so be it.

No rants here, just facts and discussions about Porsche Transaxles i look forward to seeing you out and about next year....

Have you seen the car RAMSPORT in North Wales are building?
I'm not sure what spec they are doing it, but I'll find out soon with a cheeky visit I think....

Not much progress, too bloody cold in the garage (and I took most of the skin off my knee coming off my bicycle a couple of weeks ago [:)] so kneeling to do most jobs isn't really an option at the moment anyway).

Anyways, Suzuka seats out and listed on ebay, seems to be some interest already which is good (they're nicer than most used ones on there).

I've got a few things on the go to make the interior a bit more interesting. Been making some progress on a new handbrake lever. I took one cheap ebay part, stripped off the pleather and rubber (and rust), added some speed holes (freehand, they were going to be covered originally but I've decided I like them exposed), paint with an old Peugeot colour I used for the wheels on my 944S (as remarkably the can still had some left in it) and have then added one layer of carbon fibre for the grip. Needs a lot more sanding and coats of resin of course, but it's getting there (the resin is taking ages to cure in this weather). I'm expecting it to save at least 1 diddly squat of weight. Gratuitous pic attached

Argh, this forum always does weird things with the rotation of images for me...

Here's a pic of my first trial of wrapping carbon (rather than just working from a mould), a cheap if labour intensive way to cover a gear knob for my Compact, certainly not professional grade but good enough and nice to use.

Looks great Peter!

I guess the thing with Carbon Skinning is like painting a portrait, it’s knowing when to stop!
