964 Rennlist Meet

Donington Park, Castle Donington, Derby, DE74 2RP

Sunday 7th December, arrive 10.30am onwards, meeting at Paddock 2 near Redgate Lodge and close to the Paddock Restaurant.

Final meet of the year to coincide with the Bookatrack trackday at Donington Park (various cars, not solely Porsche).

Donington has a restaurant serving drinks/meals/snacks which will be open, as well as the Grand Prix Collection exhibition (£7 museum entrance fee - although discounts for groups) and a large enough car park to cope with the biggest of all 964 meetings.

Roughly in the middle of the country, it should suit those from North and South so we're hoping that we can muster a good number of cars.

I love the presumptive close Rich --- 'may just have to drive as well ! Passenger rides anybody ? (Tim, if you are my passenger should I still pay you ? ! (worth every penny) ....) !!

Thanks Rich, I'll let the passenger be the judge of how high speed ! Now booked --- it will be good to meet some of the Rennlist crowd !!

ORIGINAL: timarnold I'll pop over to that! Donington is less than an hour for me! [:)]
Tim, any chance of an hour or so first thing to get on the lines --- and for you to show me what my car can really do ? (drifting it gently through Hizzies and into Knickerbrook --- then faster up the hill worked, to mention nothing of the "safety first" (but fast) approach to Druids !! --- both worked extremely well for me last week at Oulton, so I'm looking for a repeat performance at Craners and Coppice (the corner where if you leave braking until you can see it, you are off !). [;)]

Erm... [8|] [:D]

Sure Chris, no problem! Don't forget that Druids line was only because of the damp conditions though; in perfectly dry conditions start from fully over to the left! [;)] Craners' flat! (in most cars! [;)] - but don't just go and try it FFS!) The Old Hairpin is one I like, it's faster than it looks; you should hear the gasps that come through the intercom in a Radical when you've just come through Craners flat in top at nigh-on 140mph and all you do for the Old Hairpin is a short sharp stab at the brake, snick down one gear then nail it, flat in 5th! [:D] But we won't be doing that in the Porsches! Yes the turn point at Coppice is blind. There's not an awful lot of braking needed because you have not long since left McLeans and Coppice is pretty quick and the approach is uphill. It's judging the turn point that is the difficult bit and takes a few laps to master. The clipping point is early and is on top of you moments after turning in - but you can't see it until after you've turned in! You have to turn in blind but hit the clipping point accurately. From there on Coppice opens up and the rest of the line is involves drifting to the outside fairly early them running right around the outside edge of the track for the remainder of the corner, accelerating as hard as possible. Coppice leads onto the Dunlop straight and a good fast exit to carry maximum speed ASAP is critical to a fast lap.

Count me in on some px laps please Tim![:)] Having experienced Tims driving before chaps, rest assured your car is in good hands!!

ORIGINAL: brksy16 It's great to see there is going to be a good turnout of RSs at this one [:)]
Just hope the weather doesn't turn too cold meaning they salt-grit the roads, otherwise it might affect the underseal-less RS turnout.

Hmmm well it is only 20 mins from me....might have to get that MOT sorted now as thought that may be it for the year. Actually just realised its got no road tax either.[] That said the RSR will be back with me by the weekend and I was being advised to thrash it around a track and take it back to the garage for further checkover......hmmmmm tempting[8D] Although it was snowing here this morning!

It won't be snowing* Jason so let's see that lovely new car of yours, in the paddock at least [;)] *If it IS snowing you can always come in a boxster! [8|]

I have spoken to the people at Donington and they have suggested the following: "On Sunday Bookatrack and their customers have exclusive use of Paddock 1 and the pit garages. I have spoken with security and we think it would be best if you park your members in the corner of Paddock 2 down by Redgate Lodge. This is a large enough area for you to park, away from the Bookatrack activities." The paddock restaurant is actually in Paddock 2 so I suspect this plan will suit us quite well. Once you enter through Paddock Security jusy drive straight on to Paddock 2. It's quite a large open area so there is no need for them to cordon off anything specifically for us. Hopefully see as many of you as possible on Sunday. Weather is looking like "Sunny periods". Regards Dave
